Time will tell. First Trial game against UQ in a fortnight. Maybe you should make an appearance "heres to you". Word on the street is you weren't too bad in your day ;)
Arent you playing this year heres to you? i thought you would be only a few games short of 100 RESERVES games... Magpies have lost a few - but gains of Kitching,Hunt,Jenke-Cain,Mitchell and Hockley will be handy. they also seem to improve within players coming through, dont be surprised if you see a few of the players that you thought werent playing actually play and they will be fit.
As for Springwood great to here that they may have picked up a few but i hope they have learnt lessons from the past where they recruited heavily out of the NEAFL won nothing and lost plenty of locals.

Kitching,Hunt,Jenke-Cain,Mitchell and Hockley ? Where are they from speedy?

Sandgate had an exceptional group of half a dozen 17/18 yr olds in the Lions Academy, Qld U18s etc who have moved on to Aspley or elsewhere to play at the top QLD level- many of them have draft/rookie list aspirations. This sudden loss of young players is the downside of having a successful junior program.

Not dissimilar to maroochy as well but with the tyranny of distance alot easier to hang on to, at least until they leave high school. Reckon the club should be super pleased with being a great supply avenue all the same Brereton - at the end of the day, hopefully the boys will understand where they come from and the support provided to achieve this and the hope that they will come back to play there if things don't work out career wise. Is always a bitter sweet pill to swallow I reckon.

A really encouraging performance from the boys on the weekend! Like a lot of sides still have a number of key players to return, one thing I did notice was Albert proud playing for vultures? Has swallowed a inflatable raft if it was him. Can anyone confirm or deny my observations?

how was Heffernan Roper?

Sensational! Has fitted in really well, genuine good guy and looking forward to a big year from bomber!
yeah a good get, fortunate that his work forced a move to the goldy, you guys should get a fair return for $400 a game can play. i liked your coaches comments about trying to change the clubs image/perception hope he leads the way. have always had a couple of bad eggs players and supporters, but majority were tarnished with the same brush unfortunately. looking forward to a turnaround as there are some great players and supporters at pbc.

Palm Beach have a 6 "quarter" hit-out against Labrador this w/e. Possibly the NEAFL want a look at them after the Grange game.

That's an interesting take. If PBC join NEAFL that's a lot of Gold Coast teams compared to only 3 from Brizzie and none from the Sunny Coast. Aspley would be the only QLD team north of the Brisbane river! It's a big jump too for PBC. It's all very well looking good in a 6qtr prakkie against Labrador, but keeping it up for a full season is a different kettle of fish- just look at Aspley since moving up from the Pineapple Cup.

Won't happen - they aren't even the best team in the AP. Would be dumb to include another GC side anyway - no need, they are serviced well and truly down that way. It is a development comp the NEAFL, the best interest of the league would be to have sides from most areas of Qld if they could so young blokes didn't have to travel so far, not confined to 1 or 2 regions.

I must agree that the Gold Coast is already well represented in the NEAFL comp! I do however think they should eventually introduce a Northern Rivers side. Not sure Palmy is the best positioned to be the Northern Rivers side but it could certainly be argued.

Should be a really good hit out against the tigers this weekend, A very strong side has been put in with only a couple still to return so hopefully the boys can take it right up to Labrador and gain a lot of confidence heading to the start of the season. Despite it still being half a year away!

I think the NEAFL should add no new teams. Div 1 SEQ AFL should be encouraged to get better and better as a comp, rather than just as a source of NEAFL teams. I watched a couple of Div 2 Eastern FL games in Melbourne last year and reckon that's about where Div 1 SEQ AFL sits now (at least the strong sides like Western Magpies, Noosa, PBC), but it can get better than that.

I reckon in time - and I say this with no "inside info" or knowledge of what discussions are being had - the NEAFL will contract to one comp of say 10-12 teams as a feeder/development league, perhaps with the 4 reserves teams + Southport, one of Redlands/Morningside, Aspley, NT, a couple of Sydney teams and a couple of ACT teams - with the others dropping back to a restructured SEQAFL, of which division 1 will be the primary senior comp in the state
