Round 5, and here we are at the final head to head matches before two teams make their way through into the decider. The Allies host Vic Metro at the GABBA, with the latter having already booked their place in the final, while the hosts will be looking to finish a disappointing Series XV with a face saving win.
The Allies, seeking to become #firsttofour at the beginning of the series, look likely to be the first to four losses in Series XV, joining their arch rivals WA in the ignominy of going winless through a series, the latter having done so in Series XIV. Skipper Dingster will be looking to restore pride on Monday, and he has already mooted moving his big guns into the engine room to give their opponents some food for thought as they cast their eyes forward to the final.
After registering a famous away win against their fellow Victorians to take their place in the Series XV decider, the Metro side could be excused for going through the motions this Monday against the Allies who are already out of contention. But with spots in the final up for grabs, and skipper NaturalDisaster spoilt for choice, he may look to shift his side around at the GABBA, as he looks to find an X factor for the final and create some healthy rivalry for positions, at the same time resting his stars.
The Royals skipper was incredible the last time these two sides faced off, as he amassed a game high 38 touches, hauled in a ridiculous 11 marks and still managed to push forward and kick a goal for the victorious Allies. After a less than impressive effort in Rd 3’s tight l;oss, he’ll be hoping history repeats itself on Monday, as the Allies look to try and finish their disappointing Series XV on a high.
cooney
The Dees veteran had his game of the series so far in Rd 4, collecting 23 disposals, 7 marks and a goal on a wing, giving the Metro side crucial run as they overpowered their state mates the Counts. The Mount Buller talisman knows how to win, and the Metro side will be using every last bit of his tactical nous and battle hardened experience in their charge to the Series XV final.
Blaze Storm
The Dragon and league veteran turned back the clock in Round 4. Having started on the interchange for the Metro side, he replaced Series XV star Tony Lynn 15 within a couple of minutes as TL appeared to have picked up a niggle, with the Metro skipper NaturalDisaster immediately putting his star on ice for the day. BS replied with a strong response in his place, with 28 touches, 6 tackles and a wasteful but dominant 2 goals 4 behinds, in a day out. His audition for the ruck rover understudy seemingly going to plan, giving the Metro side options as they storm their way into the decider.
KohPhi
After starring the last time these two sides met back in Series XIV, he’s hitting form at just the right time, in ominous signs for the under siege Allies. The former Bombers skipper was dominant in Rd 4, picking up where his teammate TL15 left off as he proved too hard to handle for the Counts, getting off the chain and racking up 21 touches and 3 goals in a powerful display. Can he repeat the dose against an Allies side purely playing for pride and secure Metro a home Grand Final in Series XV?

Bloodied52
The S28 rookie and All-SFA rep B52 was best on ground for the Allies in their agonising Round 3 one point loss to the Counts, with his 28 possession, 4 mark and one goal effort almost enough to see the Allies hold on for an unlikely win but it wasn’t to be. Being refreshed from the bye, with the form he’s displayed the past 6 months, most pundits expect him to finish of his debut State of Origin series in style against a powerful Vic Metro side.

KP has enjoyed a strong Series XV for the Allies, and he continued his impressive form against Vic Country in Round 3, collecting 22 touches and a goal to be one of the best for the Alllies in their heartbreaking one point loss at Mallacoota Town Oval. Also one of the Allies best the last time the two sides met, where he managed 24 touches and 6 marks in their Series XIV win, he'll be looking to finish off his series on a high on a personal note, having made the most of his opportunities in an underperforming Allies outfit in Series XV.The S28 rookie and All-SFA rep B52 was best on ground for the Allies in their agonising Round 3 one point loss to the Counts, with his 28 possession, 4 mark and one goal effort almost enough to see the Allies hold on for an unlikely win but it wasn’t to be.
