In the darkest days Carlton was still drawing 80k crowds for the big rivalrys.

Has Adelaide or Port ever even filled that bush ground you play at?

Mate I love the blues as much as the next man, but you are wrong.

2002 our best crowd was 63k v Collingwood (54k for the return)
2003 our best crowd was 54k v Collingwood (51k for the return)
2004 our best crowd was 61k (also league high that year)
2005 our best crowd was 61k v Collingwood
2006 our best crowd was 59k v Collingwood
2007 our best crowd was 77k v Collingwood
2008 we finally got 80k as our best crowd v Collingwood

Then again prior to 2007 you were lucky if you had a single home and away match top the 80k mark, from 2007 there was at least 3.

At the best of times, when the League gifted you success, could you even dream of drawing those "tough period" numbers?

In our worst days we managed to get as many Crows fans that Carton get now. 80 odd thousand go to Carlton v Colligwood and you're getting no more than 40,000 Carlton fans and a shit load of Pies supporters.

Not much chop in a 100K stadium.

Not only that but Carlton Vs Port since 2005 (so that we do not include Princes Park):
2005: 33519 at AAMI Vs 16371 at the MCG.
2006: 18665 at Docklands
2007: 29678 Docklands, 27603 AAMI
2008: 29696 Docklands, 29240 AAMI
2009: 27221 AAMI
2010: 30228 AAMI

One could probably add (guess only) that there would be more Port supporters at the Melbourne games than Carlton supporters going to AAMI.

Luckily for many Melbourne clubs their city is X times larger than Adelaide and thus they get to play many games where there are 2 lots of supporters at your home games.

EDIT: Average Carlton:23602 Port:29562

EDIT: Yes Carlton were crap in the early years of that list, but Port were crap in the later years.
