Is there anyway that Highett can contest the result against Mordi after this finding???

I know that its drawing a long bow but effectively Mordi played an inelligable player if Lemon's suspension was resultant from a previous round.

Thoughts.....

We're not going to complain we're going to find out why some things were paid and some weren't.And no one said anything about complaining that Lemon played.

Sorry ITG, thought that was you who wrote the top post.
Yes there were some very interesting decisions paid to both teams in that game. You guys seemed to have some important decisions go against you I have to admit, which made me wonder what they were doing at the time.
I think it would be fair to say that the umpires didn't have their best game that day.

Ok guys what about this weeks games,The match of the week would be I think Chelsea Heights V East Brighton,Chelsea seem to be finding some form after a good win against the Clays while East Brighton if they come to play could upset anyone on there day, lets hope for a fine day so the skills can be seen from both sides, any thoughts boys

Should be very close. Both sides have a heavy reliance on certain players. Hislop, Jamieson's, McLelland, Bowman for East and Flack, Lancaster and Wineberg for Chelsea. If both field full lineups, I think that East has more avenues to goal for the Heights and will just scrape over the line, however Chelsea's win last week suggests they have improved markedly from when I saw them last. Should be a beauty either way.

Heighters have some very good players in there team, a few who have just come back into the team after injury. Walshy, Baldry, Matherson, Lancaster, Wineberg, Flack are all top quality players and it should be very high quality match. Hope they put it on SFL show Sat morning. Not sure who is good for East Brighton but they have put in some good performances so far this year, bit disappointed I wont be able to watch it. Have to watch Mordi cop an absolute flogging off St Kilda.

You can't go complaining about losing a game because a player kicked a goal, and then got suspended on the Tuesday after the game! It is the SFL fault if any for not having the hearing earlier.
Basically Highett were just beaten by the better team on the day even though Mordi tried to throw the game away.

And umpires always make mistakes, you just got to deal with it dude!

I think this cost us the game.

very late in the game I think it was with 3 minutes to go.

Judge for yourself.

Awful decision....who was the ump? Hard to tell from the video but it looked like old harry high pants Paul Shoebridge...
Better hope his form improves for the remainder of the season or he'll end up in Div 2 with our boys....bummer!
Also loved the banter in the background. Very thoughtful of the camera man to position himself near the only women in the stand with their own teeth...perhaps they were just visiting from Doveton!

Having watched the video several times and seeing what the umpire does, the umpire has never called play on so technically speaking the umpire was correct in awarding the 50 m penalty,Its always the same always blame an easy target for you losing, what about the handball that missed the target and got turned over or the missed kick or the mark never taken, very hard for one decision to cost a side a game of football,I wish i could count the number of errors players made against number made by umpires,I back the umpys all the time

That is utter crap Nobster. I'm a former umpire myself and if that's not play on then I will bear my arse on Bourke St. Why the umpire didn't call play on has got me stuffed

Jeff Gieschen?
Umpires are never wrong, the world is no longer round and Channel 7 are doing a great job with friday night footy.

The umpire was correct in awarding the 50, but he was incorrect for not calling play on. Therefore it was a bad decision. I am biased though because i hate those white maggots.

Well after watching that I would have to say that i hope that umpire has a good idea of where all the division 3 grounds are.

Would not surprise me to see him strutting his stuff in the under 13s in the moorabbin saints league on Sunday

I'm a Mordi fan and I was yelling abuse at Lemo for playing on..... then the next thing I know he's got a fifty!!
Nobsters right, you can't isolate one incident no matter how bad the decision was. I think that it was an evener after what happened at Tooronga Malvern the week before.

Chaddles, an even up for what, tell me more about the week before interested in knowing what happen to make you think that it was an even up,How will you blokes handle not having Lemon available for the next 7 games,This might be a silly question but i will ask anyway do you think that he will learn from that day at Tooronga, would be interested in your thoughts.

I mean an evener in the sense of Karma... The guy who took the mark to kick the goal for TM after the siren apparently fumbled the mark over the goal line thus should of been a behind and game over- Mordi should have won. We probably should of lost last week, but with a bit of luck we got over the line.

Lemon is a very important line up to the forward structure, he has a very big presence on the field, can take a good contested mark, and is very accurate at goal and with his passing. I think that we will struggle to post competitive scores while he is out, especially with no one to fill his shoes.
I haven't known Lemo for long, but my honest assessment is I dont think a 7 week suspension will change his style of play.
I didnt see what happened at TM with the behind the play incident, but the word from a few players was that it was a payback from an earlier incident. Alledgelly the TM player who got knocked out, hit Lemo the quarter before, and he is not the sort of person to let those things go (or the sort of person you hit).

Im The Gun,
Read my post again then have a think about what you want to reply with, believe it or not Umpires do make errors and yes are held accountable for them by being drop and coached into making the correct decision,The best umpires are the ones who can admit that they made a error and learn from that to make sure that don't do again. The players that umpires respect the most are the ones who accept the decision and get on with the job.

Here here, that is spot on. The players also respect the umpires who stand by there decisions, and aren't afraid to explain how the came to that decision, if it is a bit unclear.

I'm one of the first to say good job if they do a good job, but I'm also one of the hardest on them if they stuff up and at like they have never put a foot wrong.

I know that we players also stuff up, most of us a lot but that call was one of the worse I've seen or had called when playing.

House, shouldn't you be on the DIV 2 site ?

This is a bit above your standards!! :D :D

It doesn't matter which forum he's on, I'm The Gun is still looking to blame others for his shortcomings.

On other matters, who was the ring-in East Brighton had in their twos on the weekend? Stood out a little too much for him to have been otherwise hidden in the mob.

Not too sure what you're talking about McGlede. Would you like to share where else I've blamed others for a shortcoming?

If you want to say something say it.

As for East Br. who says it was a ring in, could have been a dropped player for not training, giving away a costly 50 or any other reason, also could have been a new player at the club and knowing Suzz there would be a very good reason for him playing in the twos

That 50m penalty sums up the standard so far this year!
Disgusting, that is a disgraceful decision.

Has anyone got any insights on any divi 1 clashes for this weekend?? I hope that the upsets keep coming as it is making it a very interesting competition at present.
Anyone give Chelsea Heights a chance this weekend? It would be great to see St Kilda finally get knocked off there perch. I watched the Mordialloc v St Kilda game last weekend, and while St Kilda had some really good players, the bickering that went on the field was crazy and I think it will be the downfall of the team in a close game against a better knit team such as Clayton and St Pauls. This may get moderated but they really are a team of individuals and I dont think that they will win the flag. And there supporters are pretty crazy too, I heard one St K supporter threaten to glass no. 20 for Mordi!!
Anyway thats what grinds my gears!!

Go the Bloods!!

The Chad
