So where does this fit the All Stars in the scheme of things?
Some of us have locked away the top 2 from last year, Springy, Narre and St Paul’s as probably the top 5…then still have EB and Cranny (who are always consistent as well). Will make for an interesting season.
Port Colts hit and miss may battle it out for relegation with the remaining 2 or could be right up there…bit of X factor associated with them. It’s time for Bentleigh to step up based on strong depth and junior program, enough of being in the bottom couple!

Colts have a couple of good signings . Happy for St Pauls to have 19s and stick it up the Glen Eira rats.
Ben Reid being courted by a few clubs as well , as you would expect

Having a 19's for the first time in a while is going to be a breath of fresh air for the club. Huge amount of effort has been put into the juniors to ensure the pathways and to try keep the wolves at bay (Glen Eira etc).

The main problem is if you have merged teams in juniors, as you'll have 2 - 3 clubs involved in one team and all trying to steer the playing group to one club or the other.

Agee. I’m more saying don’t discount St.Paul’s as one of the top teams next year
All good mate! Unfortunately getting harder and harder to keep local players due to the money that is being thrown around so have to up the ante there otherwise you can't compete.

Everyone can hate on Glen Eira for starting U/19s & taking the talent pool, but some on here have short memories.
There'd be a few readers on here involved in affiliated clubs who knocked back their application to start juniors in the SMJFL way back when, so they played the long game.

Smart by them to have people of influence in certain places, which admittedly will only last so long, but clubs in the area just can't expect juniors to start at their club to come through to U/19s. Continual work needs to be done

FFS it was a host of junior clubs like St Pauls , Ormond , Carnegie and Murrumbeena that voted against it , NOT the senior bodies .
It's also the way they went about it

Not everyone hates on Glen Eira. In fact most respect them for preserving the histories of the various clubs that make up the current entity. Also respect the efforts made to build what they currently have, including an U19 program from scratch particularly when efforts to start up a junior affiliate where blocked. Its just a few with a sense of entitlement that believe only their clubs can recruit from a local high school, despite having no affiliation. One thing for certain is that local kids are spoilt for choice in that part of the world and if Glen Eira, or someone else drop the ball there are plenty of other options.

Murrumbeena is another local example of what can be achieved if you work hard enough. Built a great environment and they will come.

Yep Glen Eira giving a big 'F' You to those clubs mentioned above and their senior affiliates are now paying for that decision. Good on them.

Murrumbeena doing very well out of the St Peters JFC alignment

In the case of my club our committee at the time had nothing against any club having juniors and refused to support it.
With St Pauls having 19's and Glen Eiras stolen generation now being overage i wonder where they will get players . The one thing it has done has made other clubs better like Murrumbeena

But to be fair Murrumbeena got the coach of the Under 17's to coach the next year 19's and the players followed. Good on them but hoping we get to a point where all clubs in the area have 19's up and running and don't have to continually look over their shoulders as to who might be trying to swoop in. It ensures no complacency but it's bloody tough to maintain the rage each year and build as we at St Pauls found out after no u/19's for a period of time.
