Would be staggered if he left Richmond, but you never know..

I don't think The Tigers will or should trade him to one of their most hated rivals in Essendon, there would be riots at Punt Rd

The Freo connection esp with RE Cerra seems to me the best outcome for Richmond if Bolts well Bolts.

Call me crazy but reckon he is better off for his future staying put at Tigerland.

Bit precious mate? Hill won a B and F at Freo and was rated high enough to be paid $900k a year. They play different roles but in terms of talent are not vastly different.

They are vastly different.

Hill was an elite wingman ( one dimensional) but very limited as a player and far from complete.

Shai is the complete midfielder, inside / out with explosive pace that is a serious threat resting forward. These types are worth their weight in gold.

Hill is more comparable to B Ellis than Shai Bolton when comparing talents

The key point, which you are missing, is that Brad Hill's performance went down after being paid $900k a year. I hope the same doesn't happen to Bolton.

Wasn't Tim Kelly traded for two 1st rounders, pick 24 and a swap or 3rd and 4th rounders or something?

Kelly was out of contract and 24 at the time.

Surely that's a comparable situation?

I think it's a good example of trade value where the first round picks are quite late (think the two first rounders ended up being 14 and 18). I doubt it's that much if one of those firsts were in (or projected to be in) the top 10.

If a club is dumb enough to offer a 21 year old 900k + a year then they're dumb enough to pay two top ten picks at a minimum! Would be shattered to lose him, but that money *SHOULD* be reserved for the top 1% of players in the comp currently at their absolute peak!

If the rumours are right and we're offering 2 years at 500-600k then Id say that's pretty much his value! Let him dominate for a couple years and actually earn that kind of money!

Richmond Football Club has enough sponsors and influential supporters to make life very comfortable for its champions after they are finished their careers
As well as sponsors knowing how marketable their players are due to the following and exposure the players get.

Shai Bolton will be doing Bonds / Jeep / Aami adds soon

Shai Bolton on track to finish top 5 in the brownlow and make all australian?

Definitely in the mix for AA and Brayshaw came 3rd a few years back so I'm not sure Brownlow finishing position is an accurate way to measure a players worth.

Kelly was coming off a 5th place finish in the Brownlow (only 2 votes off second). Bolton is a gun but he's not at the level Kelly was at the time he was traded
