You do know I don't even rate McKay but it will be what Essendon would chose which is why there are rumour of a band 1 compensation.

Melbourne has future 2's, future 3's. So of course we have the capital. McAdam is a 28/29 yr old fringe player, every club has the capital to get him. What are you on about.

Which is why I said it's stupid what Essendon is rumour to be offering McKay, he isn't May or even Lever level and Petty won't get a band 1 compensation if he was a FA right now.

If they want to pay McKay 800k, you could bet any money Petty would be getting offered more.
And neither are band 1 FA compensation as neither are in the May or Lever level. Essendon has inflated McKay's value but out of the 2 they will still select McKay which is why they are offering him a rumour band 1 compensation amount. At most Petty will be offered right now will be $700K, you are telling me he is worth similar to May or Lever lol.
In the current market where keep position defenders are in demand, yes he can ask that. Rumours of Ratugolea and McKay being offered big contracts are all you need to look at to see that there is a shortage of tall forwards on the market, let alone contracted ones like Petty.
Most clubs would also take 10 years of Petty opposed to 1-2 of May.

I was talking about May or Lever when they were recruited to Melbourne, Petty is no where near their level right now and neither is McKay. Ratagolea turned out to be $500K at 5 years which is around the mark for a band 4 compensation and not the ridiculous rumoured $700K which would have been a brand 2 compensation anyway.
Ratugolea isn’t a free agent but Geelong are after a first for him.
When May and Lever got recruited Dees were the only team looking to bolster defensive stocks, this year it’s Geelong/Sydney/Port/Essendon/North and probably a few others so obviously when there is more demand, the price is higher.
And? He is offered only $500K and not the ridiculous rumoured $700K so why would Port Power give them a 1st rounder?
Only his manager would actually know this. Not sure how you can make such claims.

Good chance it is a future, unless it's a pick we can bundle this year to move up the order as we already have a 1st rounder & 2x 2nd rounders & lack of list spots.

why do you keep saying someone isn't band 1 because they're not at May's level? Not many defenders in the league are at May's level. Arguably none better. He's literally the best fullback in the game.

No, it's has now been reported the offered is actually $500K at 5 years which is what you would have thought as plausible compared to the initial $700K at 7 years from the Hawks and was seen as insane by everyone on the thread.
You need to be offered $800K+ to get a band 1 compensation, do you think McKay or Petty is worth a band 1 compensation? No, so they aren't at May's or Lever's level.
McKay will get band 1 in the current climate as a key back. Petty would probably get offered more than McKay as he is a better player.
