Traded Shane McAdam [Traded to Melbourne for F2]

Your third next year, if both teams finish where they should have this year (ie you in 7th), would be about 15 picks after our second. That’s a fair old upgrade. McAdam is probably worth more based on upside, but I just don’t think there will be much traded for him.
You saying "McAdam is probably worth more based on upside" tells me you know that trade is effectively trading McAdam for nothing.

In his last season at the tigers Butler averaged 0.7 goals, McAdam has averaged 1.7 this year (and two years before that). McAdam’s value also increases when considering the dees are currently in their window and McAdam will improve their forward line. Why wouldn’t you pay a bit extra for an immediate impact to your premiership window team.
And he'll be 29 next season. Plus it's well known our small forwards were there to apply pressure before all else.

That's garbage that his value increases because dees are in the window too. If anything it's decreased because he's supposedly already named his destination club and is out of contract.

3rd rounder.

So.. its now sounds like the club lowballed him with a 2 year deal.. the dees have jumped in to snatch him with a three year one.. now the crows have upped their deal to three and have put nicksy on the case trying to encourage him to stay at Adelaide..

and Rucci’s, the port power troll, nonsense that mcadam wasnt happy with something at the club was apparently all bullshit.

fxxk me.. more brilliant list management from the dickheads running the club.

I hope they can turn him around and get him to stay. Provides a massive point of difference in our forward line.

The dees are getting him for next season not the future. They’re in their window now and McAdam can immediately bolster their forward line. What do you think better helps their window, pick 34/future 2nd, or a plug in forward averaging 1.7 goals a game that can improve their lacklustre forward line.

I doubt the crows share your valuation of Shane, and since they’re happy to offer the same contract length as Dees I hope they let him go to PSD. Not like we’d be missing out on anything with a junk third round pick. PS Shane still averaged more i50 tackles and one percenters than Butler.

Whatever the pick, the trade has to be a better pick than the last pick Adelaide will use.

For example, if we take three picks and we currently have 9, 21 and 23, there's nothing Melbourne could trade this year that would be of value.

Why a future pick would be better with our two F/Ss next year.

After the Benny Hill sketch that was the Dees forward line last night hopefully we can dissuade him from joining such dysfunction OR take advantage of their desperation and get something a little bit sweeter for him. Or he just goes somewhere else. We’ll be getting unders no matter what sadly, despite what a lot of you in here seem to think

He was unlucky this year with suspension and injury (and Nicks’ putrid conservative selection philosophy) and didn’t get the chance to drive his value up unfortunately for us, although that’s kind of been the story of his career thus far. He’s a great, albeit inconsistent, player

where have you actually been living? Melbourne's forward line woes have been an issue for 2 full years now and you could argue half of 2021 also so 3 years.

Then we lose our best forward (petty) to injury and you wonder why?

ave 1.7 goals this year
7 games is a pretty thin sample
Not even a third of the season
Lots of people look better that way
Amiss ave 3 (2.9)goals a game for seven weeks if he was injured, suspended or not best 22 the rest is he worth more then Amiss ave 1.9 goals a game playing 22 games .
Mcadam was a mature age recruit so career average is a little more real time then less than a third of a season in 23

Go to Wikipedia which reports what the trade actually was opposed to this reporting on what might be. Clearly we did a trade with the crows as we gave you a future 5th and received a future 3rd as part of the deal.

Put quite simply we traded the rights for mcadam, 26 & 28 and a future 5th for mcgovern and a future 3rd. According to Wikipedia you swapped these onto the swans along with pick 40 for pick 13 which went out to 16.

No one rated mcadam in the 20's (except maybe the crows) or else we would have traded the rights to them . No one rates him as worth a pick in the 20's now I wouldn't think. Seems more like a future 3rd or similar - same as we paid for Acres.

You put in a lot of work to get Mchenry. I don't watch every crows game but seems a bit vanilla for a small forward. By the same token we gave up a bit to get McGovern and injuries and a luke warm work ethic has meant that he has been a bit of a fizzer till the last 18 months. Pittonet is a solid ruckman but nothing more. Can only do one thing and that is hit outs.

Don't think either club won the trade/s. Would love McGovern and Pittonet to turn it on tomorrow night
McHenry....... vanilla......yeah sounds about right. Contracted until 2024 unfortunately after then a certain delist.
Failed pick that one.

Hey you are not wrong..i'd swap McAdam for Amiss...where do we sign

Amiss would also cost two top picks so I don’t see the correlation. McAdam averages 1.6 across the past three seasons (37 games)

Bahahahahaha!.. are you fxxkn serious.. you do know who writes all the uncensored nonsense on Wikipedia dont you?.. anyone can.. it was probably a Carlton fan.. alot of carlton fans were obsessed at the time with doing everything they could to claim that pick 13 wasnt involved in the mcgovern deal..

But history clearly shows Carlton gave pick 13 and Mcadam to Adelaide for McGovern.. end of.

How Carlton got pick 13 and Mcadam is clearly reported in that Fox Footy article I linked in that last comment..

Not sure what you are trying to achieve here.. apart from making a fool out of yourself by attempting to re-write history..

I like McAdam, has a few elite qualities but reality is he'll be 29 next year and has only played 50 AFL games. Worth a pick in the mid 30's-40's and has potential to be a great value pickup. 24 and a pick the other way would be a great deal for the Crows if they could do it.

Clearly you are wrong. How could we have got your future 3rd and given you are future 5th without trading with you?

How did the swans get your pick 40 without trading with you?

Clearly we traded with you and then a swap to the swans had already been organised.

But I don't really care. I have no interest in continuing this discussion with you. My original query was why mcadam wanted out compared to his original "I will not leave S.A." attitude. Maybe if you are the standard S A. Crows supporter I can understand him wanting to get the hell out.

Well.. his “I dont want to leave S.A attitude” back in 2018 probably centred around the fact that if he was leaving SA he was going to Carlton!…

A club which, as you’d have to agree, were, and have been up until this year, one of the worst performing clubs of this century..

No wonder he said “no thanks”

Now he might be looking to leave SA now because, as is being reported, the Dees have put a bigger offer in front of him than the crows have..

So it sounds like its a dollars and contract length thing thats swung Shane’s eyes towards the state of Victoria..

But. Now its all come out yesterday that aparently Nicksy has met with him, told him the club wants him and is trying to get him to stay by upping their offer from 2 to 3 years to match the dees offer..

Might be all too late though if he’s already agreed to terms at the dees..

he's a pretty solid pressure player as well

Well last nights game certainly showed why McAdam would be a good fit in the Dees forward line.

They need a couple of crafty, skillful half forwards to improve their delivery inside 50 and to be another scoring avenue themselves.

Draft Watson at pick 5 and you have two very crafty, skillful half forwards.
