I loved him on the field this year but it's pretty clear hes dumb as rocks.

Such a shame because he showed so much promise, but if he's found guilty I don't think the club has a choice but to sack him.

He's planning on pleading not guilty. Sounds like it has to do with a family member hence the aggravating circumstances.

Odds of another Fremantle player charged with assault by next Monday?

Must be the players making the most of what was left of their off-season before returning next Monday. F#@kin idiots!!!

It shouldn't be hard to get the message across that they have, likely, less than 10 years on good coin to run around and kick a ball before having to return to the normal 9-5 grind like the rest of us. Just look at Dayle Garlett, was on the most powerful clubs list and could've made something of himself and set himself up for life. Now he's in jail.

As I said elsewhere, please don't be an ignorant or arrogant member of a problem that needs addressing: Aboriginal issues. Young men are growing up with no grounded sense of self, no structure, and it's a result of decades of displacement and oppression. You have to look at why these talented young men constantly find themselves straying outside the regimentation of the law or even guidelines of an AFL club. Don't look at this incident like you'd look at some privileged white kid who went to Christ Church and played for Claremont. Be fair.

Still though, I still see his drafting as completely bizarre. We were always going to bottom out in 2016 and yet the club approached a 28-year old, who at the time was out with an injury. He was some short-term stop-gap when we needed youth and investment. He played really well from day dot, he had some great composure and always took his time on the ball and he had a nice long kick on him which made him a great centre-half forward... very nimble for a tall guy too, he was almost like the Michael Johnson of our forward line. Yes he was a good player but far out he was a weird choice.

I don't recall you posting that 12 months ago (bolded bit)...anyway,

Violence was a massive, massive part of the upbringing of the Aboriginies that I grew up with.

This is about Shane Yarran. I said at the time his drafting was weird. I said before his debut that it was dumb.

Regardless your blatant picking on me is irrelevant here.

Then again you were a Byron Schammer fan...

Who said this was an Aboriginal issue? This seems to be an issue for all AFL players/young men. I'd imagine all players on a list get the same information and education regardless of race, 'class,' sexuality, age. Trent Dumont was charged for assaulting a taxi driver, Toby Greene was charged with assault, Lachie Whitfield has been suspended for avoiding a drug test, Ben Cousins now an ice addict has been abusing drugs his whole career. These issues aren't just limited to Indigenous players. I'd argue the proportion of Indigenous AFL players getting caught up is the same proportion as any other culture/race.
