Sheffield Shield Game 1: South Australia v Tasmania @ Adelaide (Tues - Fri)

Good fight-back from Tasmania this afternoon, led by captain courageous who will hopefully smash his first century of the season early tomorrow morning!:thumbsu:

Tas currently lead by 42 runs, so effectively they are 4/42.

With 276 overs being bowled so far (should have had at least 288 (96*3) overs by now), one would imagine there will be a minimum of 108 overs bowled tomorrow.

For Tas to have any chance, they need to bat another 65 overs (@ 2.7runs an over minimum) setting SA 220 off around 43 overs.

A highly unlikely proposition if Bailey doesn't make 150, with SA likely claiming victory by 6 wickets.

At least if SA do bowl Tasmania out it will be us batting possibly late and under lights and it will be up to us if the game ends because of bad light, which is highly unlikely when we are chasing an outright.

An early wicket and we'll be into the tail.

Not a bad tail to have

Krejza - av 25 at first class level with 1 century and 5 fifities
Geeves - averaged 38 with the bat last season to be the leading run scorer for Tas (from memory)
Young W/K - top scorer in first innings...

I'll back our guys in against those mentioned. They are handy but when it comes to the crunch on day 4 things might be different. We shouldn't be worried about them, the game is there to win if we are good enough.

Will be interesting to see what happens...

Cleary and Duval possibly both will not bowl due to injury...

Spoke too soon hahaha.

Over 81.5: O'Brien to Butterworth, one run, drives to mid on, runs with the shot and he gets his first run for the day after 37 mins and 39 balls

Looks over. Christian and O'Brien delivering the good. Barring a very impressive final stand SA shouldnt need much more than a hundred

Kiss of death if i've ever seen it with 7 - 11 accumalating 6 runs between them!

Dominant start to the season by the Redbacks, in particular Smith and Christian. Lets hope its a sign of things to come rather than promising so much but failing to deliver.

Good chance for Klinger to get back in his groove and set himself for another huge season.

This Smith guy is a gun. Scores runs and scores them quickly

Smith is a fast scoring opener, has made some very rapid 100's in grade cricket and in the underage comps. Played a bit for us over the past year or two but has matured a lot now and is ready to dominate first class cricket. Huge future ahead of him. Prone to getting out for nothing if he goes too hard too early but usually once he gets his eye in, it's 4 4 4 4 4.
