Rumour Busted Shiel a done deal.

Probably the knocks on Wingard are starting to surface, although I am surprised how quickly they've arrived.
From all reports Wingerz wasn't going too hard at training and doing the level of preparation required to avert his current calf complaint.
They have Sculls to fall back on, he'll be a good pick up if footy was played in straight lines.

Wow, normally even the most lazy players will put in one bumper effort upon joining a new club before getting lazy again.

I’m just glad we paid less for Dylan than what the Hawks stumped up for a lazy Wingerz.
You didn't though. You paid the equivalent of 2274 draft points, we paid 2234 for Wingard.

We also got him on a 4 year $2.5m deal (625k a season) compared to the 850k a year Shiel will cost you guys.

How did you value the best young player in the game in your point system?
2018 Pick 11 - GWS Draft Jye Caldwell - Points value 1329
+ 2019 Pick 8 - based on 2018 ladder - Points value 1511
- 2019 Pick 31 - based on 2018 ladder - Points value 606

Total points cost 2274

HAW Pick 18 2018 - Port draft Xavier Duursma - Points value 985
+ Ryan Burton Pick 19 2015 draft - Points value 948
+ HAW Pick 36 2018 - Brisbane draft Tom Berry - Points value 502
+ WB Pick 60 2019 (based on 2018 ladder position) - Points value 146
- PORT Pick 45 2019 (based on 2018 ladder position) - points value 347

Total cost 2234 points, exactly the trade value for pick 3, and 40 less points than the Dylan Shiel trade.

So Ryan Burtone = Blaine Boekhorst?

Gotcha.

Ryan Burton equals his original draft position considering it's only been 3 years, and if you look at the 'Redo the 2015' thread most don't have him in their top 10/15 anyway.

You’re not paying Wingerz 625k per season and Essendon Football Club is not paying Shiel 850k per season.
After all, according to you Hawks supporters Shiel is ranked well below Kelly and Cogs and Ward.

It's behind a paywall, but very clearly states he's on a 4 year $2.5m a year deal.

Clearly states all offers from clubs were over 800k per season.

He’s on a six year deal at Essendon, as declared by the club. What he’s getting is pure speculation.
Now, what baloney can you dig up about lazy Wingerz?

None of those words make any sense...

I provided a reference that supports that Wingard is on 625k because you didn't believe it.

I also provided a reference that supports that Shiel is on more than 800k a year.

Please consult with your brain before posting again.

Go and check the disclosure by EFC- that’s the only piece of reliable information about the Shiel deal.

This is where you ****ed up. No chance in hell we replicate our finishing position of this year.

What is Shiel believed to be on? I thought he was somewhere around 800k

I dont pretend to know other than it's been reported he turned down bigger offers from the other 3 suitors, which were all north of $800, so that & given the state of Essendon's salary cap at the time, maybe its $800 max but more likely $750ish over the 6 years.

If you guys paid 750k while Saints are paying 700k for a cooked Hanners, that is beyond ****ed. Would be ecstatic if it's true and I were an Essendon supporter haha

I hear you & yes, if that's about right, very happy.

Not that Essendon are alone with this problem, but they have a several young players that are going to need to get paid in coming years. Tying up large chunks of salary cap in any player, especially a mid, just isn't & cant be part of the plan going forward. Long term deals where possible on reasonable money with the buy-in of ultimate success is the approach clubs should be taking.
