Ahmed Fahour for me, loves Carlton :thumbsu:

media

Just taken over Aussie Post

Who cares?

That was then, this is now. Now you need to extract every single bloody 0.05% out of your body that you can if you are to get to the top of the mountain. Instead our players go out and get wasted numerous times during the year whilst other clubs' players work hard, treat their bodies like temples.

Good going boys!!

Other clubs players? That's funny. Bet lots of players from every club would be totally pie-eyed at Xmas at some stage. Just the media never got wind of it.

I would have thought a much more appropriate Xmas party would have been at a players house, where the players can have a drink in private, and do what they like there.

that is fine in theory, but there's a big problem with it - which is the one main reason it doesn't happen that way. Getting drunk is, in reality, only a small consideration.

This is because most of the boys on a list are between 18-25. Now... how on earth are they picking up a root at their mates house?!!!

I'm sorry, but let's be realists. That's probably the main reason they "go out", & who can blame them? That's where the girls are, not in the pool room at home!

These faux-solutions fail to take realities into consideration; and that is, young guys like the pussy! Fair enough too!

Can the AFL ban pussy ??

WTF? Sticks is a successful businessman in his own right, perhaps he isn't as wealthy as a Pratt or a Mathieson, or even a Fitzpatrick, but that doesn't mean he isn't educated.

The fact is Sticks was thrust into the presidency role, on a temporary basis, due to the charges brought against Pratt by the ACCC. The deterioration in Pratt's health & his subsequent passing saw Sticks' role become permanent. Now there are a number of well credentialled individuals on the club's board & I certainly haven't heard or read anything to suggest there is any dissatisfaction within the board with the job Sticks is doing. Rest assured if Sticks was doing an ordinary job, there are enough healthy egos on our board who would be making a noise about this.

Succesful businessman?
I could run a business like his.
I get all Visy stuff to print.
All CfC stuff to print.
I get fair share of corporate and coterie stuff.
And Lofts set it up for me with the money i got from Pratt.:D

Get real.... go talk to the man and get an insight into his intellectl

Actually the Fevola presser is a great insight into how complex and intelligent Sticks is:thumbsu:

Sticks is there cos the board is hopeless and Sticks is what keeps them safe.

Houlihan, Walker and Betts should all be sacked.
2 years ago these names would have been "untouchable" as our list wouldn't have coped with them going.

Now, any given week these guys could be out of the team and you wouldn't notice.

The most disturbing thing to me (and maybe I'm being a bit naive) were the number of reported scuffles between players.........and if the story about Robbo injuring his shoulder are true I'll be furious.

The fact is, after sacking Fev we have put all these guys on notice. Cloke was sent packing for off field as well as on........Betts can't be too far behind.
I don't know if Walker and Houlihan have form, but they would want to watch their step.......or they may be GC bound at years end.

Another name I didn't see was Scotland. A Party boy from way back and now our oldest player or close enough to.........hopefully he has kept his nose clean........but if we sacked them all it wouldn't be the end of the world...........and Fisher would probably dodge another bullet. :D

It just astounds me how dumb these guys have been just over 2 months on from the "Fev incident".........FFS if they won't learn they must go.

This has been the first time where I considered (although only briefly) not joining as a member this year........I expected after Fev was sacked, a new resolve, and a focus brought to the group who would now be dedicated to winning that next flag.........I felt this showed some still lack the appropriate levels of discipline to do that.

As good as we think they are or might be, sacking should be given strong consideration, especially for repeat offenders (looking at you Eddie).

For the management to allow this unsactioned event to happen, without any one of them their is a disgrace. Leadership starts from the top, and we don't have any. Look at his comments, i will deal with it JAN 4, that just tell you what a idiot he is. No. you deal with it NOW, not F**ken 2 weeks on.

When we have presidents and co who are incompertant like this how do you expect our culture ,club to move forward. Sad thing is in a time where we we should be moving forward, we are going backward. Pratt would be turning in his grave. We need strong leadership from the top which permeates below !!

The players were already scattered far & wide across the country by the time this would have started filtering through to the club. The message needs to be delivered to the entire playing list, not just those identified as mucking up.

Fair enough medium sized, but i still think that this event should have had some ,one of our administrators their. This will cost us big time both in monetary terms and perception to other sponsors coming on board. I am really upset at this and by the look of it so are the majority of our members.

didn't spot that. well done Scotland.

What do we think about Sticks having lunch with Jack?
Regardless of what they were talking about, and given Sticks' comments earlier in the year about him not being welcome at the club, is this a good idea/bad idea for them to be seen in public together?

Couldn't care less. Not a story. Would be more concerned if he had lunch with [insert name of innocuous person] :thumbsu:

Hacks.
I'm going to the new Indian Premier Forum. Welcome to the majors.

You'll never do it without some big names. You'll never get Matt and Mr Fabulous outta them high paying gigs.

Had lunch with 30Man yesterday. Press are all over it suggesting a split away from BF into a new SuperForum format. We've been denying it but the phones keep ringing.

Does this mean we'll have to wear colourful pyjamas while sitting at the keyboard if SuperForum gets up?:D

But seriously, I think Sticks is fine where he is. By any business measure, as chairman of the board so to speak he is presiding over the start of an era of success at the club. Success on field with more to come I'm pretty sure, turned a profit, new facilities. With regard to recent events he is obviously livid at what occurred as evidenced by his interview and as I think mediumsizered mentioned, the players were not 'at work' as such being scattered all over the country at the time. Whatever message he intends to deliver must be to the whole group at the one time as this will have maximum impact.

If people thought getting rid of Fev would fix everything they are being naive. That was the start and the 'cultural change' is a work in progress.
Regardless of the clubs history with this sought of thing I'll run with Lee Matthews definition of culture at a club and say that this playing group has an opportunity to create their own culture, hopefully a culture based on respect for self, mutual respect for each other, a sense of obligation and responsibility and a culture in line with what the club expects from its employees.

Party time will obviously come round again but as I stated in another post you can have a good time, even get plastered without catching the media's attention, pissing off other people or starting a fight

The game and the club are and always will be bigger than the players and will be around long after they have retired. make your own history fellas and be remembered for great deeds on the field and responsible participation in society off field.

You don't think that Sticks looks a little like a hypocrite, having said about 6 months ago that JE is not welcome at the club. Probably wouldn't have bothered me so much had it just been Sticks and JE, but the fact there were also 5 board members present makes it look like an unofficial board meeting.

I would rather seing him having lunch with a prospective sponsor and trying to make up the 1 million we lost as a result of the latest escapade.

Maybe then JACK has a new bussiness plan in mind? Really dont give a shit who he has lunch with, as long it is for the overall benefit on the CArlton football club!

The article states that Sticks confirmed he had lunch with JE & five former board members. I have been trying to work out who they might have been, perhaps Lofts, Mathieson, Hunter, Diesel (who was on the board for a very short time), maybe even Colin De Lutis.

If it had been 5 current board members then the story might have some legitimacy, but lunching with a group of people, who are most likely just mates, does not translate to welcoming JE back into the 'fold'.

Without digging up the "story", did the Hun differentiate between five current board members or five previous board members?
