You don't think that Sticks looks a little like a hypocrite, having said about 6 months ago that JE is not welcome at the club. Probably wouldn't have bothered me so much had it just been Sticks and JE, but the fact there were also 5 board members present makes it look like an unofficial board meeting.

MSR covered my response. 5 former board members, more than likely all mates. See no conflict with saying to a mate, as current President and on club business you are not helping the club and are not welcome back but we are mates this does not change that. I had a friend that worked for a direct competitor, does not mean that every time I had lunch with him we were swapping trade secrets. And afaik club president is honorary (not paid) so in his own time Sticks can have lunch with whoever he pleases imo, so long as he does not get arrested for D&D!

If it was 5 former board members, then who cares!?

The Hun & a readership that thrives on tabloid reporting. The gullible (read 90% of the non-Carlton supporting football community) lap this sort of stuff up.

The most glaring inconsistency I pointed to in an early post, was that they claim that the lunch took place hours after the booze cruise in one sentence, and days after it in another sentence.

Whilst I don't subscribe to any overarching conspiracy I also don't rate a lot of their work as quality journalism. We have to balance that against understanding that for a lot of us the hun online and the age realfooty is our go to point for AFL news. You have to take the good with the bad. I would rather some crap here and there and a lot of coverage as opposed to no crap but little or no coverage. As an interstater I am sure you know what I mean Red.

Considering the recent image problems our club has been facing, I would say it was a very silly decision. Regardless of how unfair or trivial it seems, sometimes some tact and common sense is necessary.

Lunch with some old friends seems pretty straight forward to me, as long as it is with 5 former board members. I would still have an issue with it if it was 5 current board members.
