Maybe I'm stuck in 2009 when it comes to PA(dont watch too many PA games) but what happened to Cornes? Was a time when he was like your 2nd or 3rd picked every week...

Injuries led to poor form and then more injuries plus pressure plus building towards the future. Basically his injuries and poor form couldn't have come at a worse time. Technically he'd be in our best 22 players for sure. But the general consensus is he's not going to be part of our next premiership push, so why play him? I prefer to play to win, so I like having him in the side.

Edit: I also like to think that 'poor form' is poor in comparison to what he's been capable of in the past, not in direct comparison to other players.

Haha. The way some of the supporters were sounding reminds me about ours and Embley. Managed to be 2nd best on ground last week though so he can't be all bad.

Gotta say that the WCE side doesn't look that bad on paper, even with their absentees.

In fact from an independent observer's point of view, they probably have more recognisable names than we do.

Mitch Brown, Glass, Kennedy and Lynch is not a bad spine, and they've got some capable flanker types in defence (Hurn, Waters).

Looking at our team, we're quite a few good players short (Schulz, Surjan, Hartlett, Salopek, may be Ebert) of where I'd like us to be at this time of the season.

If we win, it will go down to the wire.

Isn't this home game some sort of marquee game with the merger with Port Adelaide with them playing the curtain raiser?

Chad strikes me as one of those players who thrives on the big emotional games and pumps up his team mates. Playing this game after a decent hit out last week and losing Shultz seems pretty logical for an outsider.

Also the Eagles have named a team with lots of tall forward types, Chad can go back and then you guys then play that small forward line that we always seem to struggle with and never learn.

Looking forward to a good game.:thumbsu:

Merger of not with ... both the SANFL Port Adelaide Magpies and the AFL Port Adelaide Power are one 'club' again!

SANFL - Port v Norwood is the curtain raiser.

yea ... hopefully a good game! :thumbsu:

I think we're past the phase of playing Chad in big games because he'll do well, it was called for in the Showdown last year and they tried making a big deal out of it but we came away with the chocolates again. When Chad played last year it was kind of obvious to the supporter that his crash'n'bash style wont fit into the game/our team anymore unless he can reinvent it. We'll get to see how capable he is tomorrow now that an injury has come up.

His marking has seemed much improved since last year. I think it's because when he went down with another finger, I believe I read somewhere he decided to end his season then and get his fingers worked on so he'd be ready for this year. That may have helped at the very least with his confidence for marking.
