you realy dnt think yg will make any impact on divvy1 next yeah do you?
hopefully they do well, would be great to see.

Maybe straight back down. With the recruitment that the bottom two teams from last year have done already I cant see who Yarra Glen will beat at this stage.

Please enlighten us on who has been recruited, seems that the bottom teams would need to recruit plenty as they were a long way of the pace

Maybe off the pace of Woori Upwey and Gembrook last season but would still would have accounted for Yarra Glen and Yarra Junction. Silvan would have been competitive against Yarra Glen.

Silvan were a shambles last year only better than wandin IMO. Silvan gone, wandin have apparently recruited well, think this year mite be a close one. Hopefully YG can be competitive/successful it makes for a better competition when there are no easy beats. Any news on whether or not Warby have any new players?

Has it been confirmed that Warby have signed Robbie Ahmat and Brendan Murphy?

While very few but the hardliners believe we will be ultra competative in 1st Div we did win the GF by 10 goals and had an avg winning margin for 18 games of 57 pts, had the league best player for 2nd div, the leading goal kicker, two players in the team of the year and the assistant coach of the years best team. As a hardliner l believe we will be very competative and so do our players. We have a young committed group of blokes who are prepared to do the hard yards. Can't wait for the season to begin and show the Fingers of the Valley that the best of 2nd Div can and will be competative in Div 1.

The voices around are telling me that Bonuda has def signed at Vermont, but added to this is Robbie Allen at Box Hill, Stolly and Sharp both leaving as well?? Monky retired and one or two others shopping themselves around.

Not sure how true this all is, but if correct Woori will fall away dramatically.

Ever year at this time the same crap is rolled out on the rumour mill,
-warby are flying signing plenty of good players!
-mt eve have 50 on the track!
-wandin have signed players from vermont ,lilydale ect.
-woori are losing all there players!

And you know what actually happens by seasons end,
-warby struggle to sign any great player and finish mid ladder
-mt eve are up and about til rd 9 then fall over
-wandin have signed players from vermont and lilydale, but those guys have only ever played 2's
-and woori finish in the top 3

Woori and Gembrook alone on GF day had thirty players who are better players than Cowan. No doubt YG had 3/4 good players that will make the step up there will be a majority that don't.

I saw something on the EFL forum that suggested that Troutman from Olinda is going to South Croydon?

Well said 1Rumour!
- Warby always seem to be talking to players pre season. That is until they head up there and realise they drive past another 6 clubs before they get there!
- Every team has over 50 blokes on the track (Even Powelltown)
- Wandin are in talks with EFL players who stuggle to find room on their postage stamp ground
- Woori are losing all their players. The names that are always thrown up are King and Sharp. Two guys that have spent nearly their whole lives playing for the club. Then Sharp comes out has a blinder and takes out another League B & F

We need something to talk about!

The boys at seville tell me they easily had 50+ at training for their first night wednesday and have picked up a couple of fringe players from croydon that will play 1sts. Also heard they have picked up a bloke who finished somewhere near the top of the yv first div b&f last year, athough havent put pen to paper yet.

Why would he be wasting his time, other than VFL 1st Divy EFL is prob considered the best standard going around, would be a massive lose for Olinda but will def be a step forward in his football going to a 1st Divy club.

Rubbish - the only place to go would be the VFL, because it gives him a chance of being seen and potentially drafted. Why would going to a bottom 1st Division side help develop his football, EFL 1st Division is a step up, but it will not get him anywhere in his career. Kid can play I would love to see him really test himself, and with the thin draft over the next year with GWS try and make a real go of it.

The link to the EFL Forum post is below. Its no more likely to be true than most of the rumours that get posted here though. He would be a loss to the Valley competition if it were true. I hope its not.

Don't get too carried away.
Good as EFL is, it is still just suburban football and most of the "status" is in the mind rather than a reality. On a par with Amateurs, Ovens & Murray, Geelong and Ballarat leagues, but still maybe only third tier in the state.
May be some kudos for playing there, but then is it that far removed from playing with a top local team such as Woori or Upwey? Why send a talent just one step up a long ladder?
Troutman is real quality and should try VFL first.
(Selfishly hope he stays with the Bloods, tho.)

Doesn't matter where the kid plays, if he's good enough the big boys will come knocking, alot of this years drafties were found in the middle of nowhere, and maybe he has some sort of tie to Sth Croydon, good luck to him, he is one quick f#*ker tho:thumbsu:

I do not know where you are getting info on the draft, there appeared to be none picked up from "nowhere" - maybethe document I looked at is wrong, but of all the picks they came from TAC cup, the WAFL and SANFL, TFL etc, I did not see one from a suburban league. Even the VFL only had 1

Haven't heard from TeeS on this one? Does the kid want to make it to AFL? If he does then most of the comments are right, he'd be better at VFL. He'd need an invite though, you can't just rock up. (this could be arranged I'm sure as he is good enough) If he just wants to play a better standard and make a bit of pocket money then EFL is a good move. If his recruitment is typical of South Croydon's off season efforts, then they will be a competitve unit in 2011.

Thanks for the heads up, Monniehawk. After reading the EFL website I thought the order of standard was:

AFL
EFL
VFL
SANFL
WAFL
And then any league you care to mention.

Most, if not all, of the posters on their website are not backward in coming forward when it comes to the standard of their league.
