AA Full Back!! HAHAHAHAHA!!!!!

In your opinion he may be stopping the forwards from scoring somewhat but what else can he do? Run with the ball? Kick? Play around the ground? Chase down opponents? The answer to the above is god no.

I don't know who is going to be AA Full Back, but it's not going to be Presti!!

you are a moron. next you're gonna say he doesnt kick enough goals...

His job is primarily to stop his opponent from scoring. I think you'll find he does that job as good as anyone in the league.

Really I dont think presti could give a stuff if he got AA or not, he just does his job to the best of his ability in his own quiet way, regardless what anyone thinks of him and thats why I like him. So I too couldnt care if he got it or not. I am just glad he is playing and doing a good job and I'm happy with that.

I think Rutten a great player too, but I still like presti regardless.

Yes, his job is to stop his opponent from scoring and he does that sometimes. However, if you want a spot in the AA side you need to do a lot more than that!

Does anyone remember in the third quarter when the tide was going Sydney's way and the ball continuesly went into their forward line and in one of their attacks; The ball enters a conjested 50 with players going in every direction and with Hall firing but all you see is Simon Prestigiacomo run straight through it all with ball in hand and out of the defensive 50. That is EXACTLY what defensive football is all about. If that doesnt bring a smile to a football fan in regards to correct defensive work then nothing will. Ive been playing football as a defender for a good 7-8 years now and that made me absolutely CACKLE because it was Presti out of all players. But it was done VERY well and I think it ended up resulting in a Collingwood goal in the other end. Had it been like the football of today where the defender handballed backwards or sideways then who knows what would've happened. Presti showed that playing direct football still creates a better opportunity for your team to kick quick counter attack goals. Well Done!

If a defender stops his opponent scoring goals better than any other defender in the league, then he is worthy of all australian in my eyes.

What exactly does Rutten do again...besides stop his opponent from scoring goals?

Anything else?

yeah but presti is top five but not the best. rutten, carroll and scarlett have less goals kicked on them and they actually get more of the ball.

Presti won’t make AA because the media rarely talk about him and that’s who selects the AA side. Presti is the best stopper/defender in the game though and by the time he retires people will realise it. He’s been doing to the best forwards what he did to Hall for years now. Hall was in form and actually player quite well but Presti held him to a game that allowed his team to control the defensive half.

He won’t make the AA side but he’s a Collingwood life member and I bet he’s more pleased with that. You can tell that just by watching him let alone seeing him speak of talking to him. He shuns the publicity and just goes about his job every week year after year. A more humble and nice bloke you will never meet. Not that that means jack on the football field but it does count for a lot in a team environment.

Now get off my bandwagon!
All of you!

From Tim Lane

The moment to illustrate the shift in both the game and Sydney's fortunes came in the middle of the term. The Swans were attacking and the ball came loose. Brett Kirk looked like running onto it. Coming the other way, though, hard and uncompromising, was Simon Prestigiacomo. Kirk, of all people, hesitated, and the Collingwood man barged through, took the footy, and thumped it clear.

And Presti wont be AA . He has the game but not the glamour .

saying Pretigiacomo should be AA full back,
is about as funny as me saying that essendon are gonna win the flag:confused:

From pro-stats.....

On the Front Line
Spoils
71 B Harris 1 WBU
59 S Prestigiacomo 2 COL
55 M Michael 3 BRI
53 M Hudghton 4 STK
51 D Fletcher 5 ESS
46 J Roe 6 BRI
43 J Rivers 7 MEL
40 D Glass 8 WCE
39 D Morris 9 WBU
39 J Bowden 10 RIC

No one on here saying should win AA just that he would and should be considered.

Yeah half of Presti's spoils are when he is by himself and could just mark the ball, and decided to spoil it over the boundary line.

Obviously doesn't show much confidence in his marking or disposal ability.

Every Collingwood fan believes Presti is underated, but the way they go on about him, i think he is overated.

Its much more complex than that. Pies fans think all their players are under rated so they talk as much as possible about how good they are. This undermines the credibility all of Pies' supporters talking about their own players, so no one believes them when they hype their players who are actually good. Presti being a good example.
