If you didn't play home games at the g already I would actually agree with Geelong supporters it should be at your home ground as it would be against any other interstate sides and bad luck for our supporters. But you do play home games at the g so that gives the afl the choice and it's going to be the g everytime it's just unlucky you play another team that has that as there home ground AS WELL.

Only reason we play home games at the MCG is because the AFL dictate where we play. If Cook and Carter had their way, we'd play all 11 games at Simonds. Cook was on the radio a few weeks ago and said we make $400K more profit hosting games in front of 30,000 at Simonds than we do hosting games in front of 60,000 at the 'G.

You may make 400k more profit but the AFL don't, and the AFL paid for part of your stadium. Suck it up I say...

35,000 v 90,000+, and only up the road. Footy always was and always should be about the fans. MCG for sure.
It's also not really a 'home' ground as both teams always get their fans in so umpires aren't as swayed by the biased crowd relations. I live in Geelong so know how easy it is to get to the G. Just play that game in the afternoon not night time.

The AFL just need to come out and say we DGAF about integrity of the competition and ladder position at seasons end really means SFA as they will put games where they want. Results and what is earned by teams are inconsequential to the needs and desires of the AFL.

Just call it what it is. Dont pretend for 23 weeks that finishing higher than other teams on the ladder gives you rights to play games at your home destinations.

GWS can play at their home ground and crowd numbers didnt matter, but now suddenly they do. Just admit its $$ based and all this goes away.

The AFL own the finals not the clubs. Be happy you made it and you are playing in your home state. Dont deny 50000 fans entry.

The giants have never sold out a final at spotless, so it is the right sized stadium so far.

And the afl should treat the finals with integrity like every other professional sports body on the planet. what makes the afl so different from every other sport?

My mob has never been given a home final when we have earned it even as recently as 2015. Why is geelong different particularly with your smallish stadium?

Cook contradicted this

In an aw interview, caro asked him if the afl allowed it would geelong play all 11 home games at cat park. He said yes, except for the games against teams like collingwood and hawthorn which they would want to play at the mcg. He then said the only way to have 11 home at geelong would be to ensure an arrangement where geelong was only ever the away team against those clubs

Edit: fwiw i think the club should want all 11 down there regardless of opponent
