Simonds Stadium Snubbed For Finals

If you didn't play home games at the g already I would actually agree with Geelong supporters it should be at your home ground as it would be against any other interstate sides and bad luck for our supporters. But you do play home games at the g so that gives the afl the choice and it's going to be the g everytime it's just unlucky you play another team that has that as there home ground AS WELL.

Only reason we play home games at the MCG is because the AFL dictate where we play. If Cook and Carter had their way, we'd play all 11 games at Simonds. Cook was on the radio a few weeks ago and said we make $400K more profit hosting games in front of 30,000 at Simonds than we do hosting games in front of 60,000 at the 'G.

35,000 v 90,000+, and only up the road. Footy always was and always should be about the fans. MCG for sure.
It's also not really a 'home' ground as both teams always get their fans in so umpires aren't as swayed by the biased crowd relations. I live in Geelong so know how easy it is to get to the G. Just play that game in the afternoon not night time.

Just call it what it is. Dont pretend for 23 weeks that finishing higher than other teams on the ladder gives you rights to play games at your home destinations.

those 50,000 are mostly richmond supporters and should not be there. they havnt earnt the right to go.

the afl tried to make the 22 fixture fair with 17-5 and the moronic fans dont want it.

In any case this is completely different as this issue only effects 2 clubs (geelong and gold coast) whereas the 22 round season on average effects each team.

I'm a big picture guy. The 'G is the preferred place for victorian based finals. You have to win there to win the flag so why not this week?

Cook contradicted this

In an aw interview, caro asked him if the afl allowed it would geelong play all 11 home games at cat park. He said yes, except for the games against teams like collingwood and hawthorn which they would want to play at the mcg. He then said the only way to have 11 home at geelong would be to ensure an arrangement where geelong was only ever the away team against those clubs

Edit: fwiw i think the club should want all 11 down there regardless of opponent
