News Simonds Stadium stage 3 redevelopment - Players Stand, big screen and new lights

To be fair most games were at night which is colder and one of the only day games was the ball freezer pissing rain day v Melbourne
It is the way the wind tunnels through and out the back. Went to the VFL evening final match I think it was, the one where it rained half way through. Anyway, I sat in several locations that night. Up in the Players stand was like another universe compared to the Premiership stand and the wing. These are the most expensive seats, platinum or whatever they call them.

It probably is also due to the fact that opposite the Players Stand (Ablett Terrace) is very exposed, compared to opposite the other two.

Sat in the new stand a couple of times last season. Loved the view, thought the seats were a bit pricey, but only sat there twice. As long as the cost doesn't increase, I'd sit there again.
Didn't notice the wind too badly either, but I usually stand in the outer, so to me felt nice and enclosed.

Watching the Adelaide test, geez I reckon we missed an opportunity in putting a grass hill in front of the big screen but behind current seating. Doubt it would have risen the cost by more than a few thousand, and would be fantastic either standing room/general admission area. Would keep a surbuban feel in what is very fast becoming an elite stadium, and would have been a really nice touch.

Yeah I was really surprised with that move. But still I'm really glad they kept both the old scoreboard and the hill. Both of which are very much out of fashion in these days of modern stadium developments.

Not sure a grassy hill would be possible while keeping the seats as well - just no room, and it would be on one hell of an angle.

I might be wrong, but I'm pretty sure the scoreboard is National Trust - untouchable.

The way its set up now your probably right, but if they either made the big screen higher/further back I think it would have been very possible.

Last photo didn't show it particularly well, but there actually is a small grass bank there already that they used to put those poles into. You can just see it to the bottom left here

Grassy Hills contribute to the ambience but not to the bottomline. I hope they can afford to get another screen for the city end , perhaps then they will be able to show a full 16:9 vision and make the most of the screen.

Who has change seats this year into or out of the Players stand?
I was in the players stand this year on the top level, great viewing but geez there isn't much room between the rows of seating.

Yep same. Moving around or down for a beer is not what they had in mind. The view , which is the main aspect is very good. But having seats in the Brownlow Stand for the Freo final reminded me how far away from the players we now are. Brownlow stand felt like you could almost touch them. Still that will probably change if the do Stage4

I'm having to I think... but it's due to affordability...

Was looking at moving seats but circumstances changed

Move or no more seat at all?
Initially I was looking at moving (was going to get 2 seats and not on the end of an aisle) but no most likely no seat

I sat under that scoreboard at KP twice, one for the night game where junior returned. (First game under lights?) and then again this year for the arvo match vs the doggies. you face the setting sun directly, now i see why they are never sold out.

Yep, was really noticeable when I was sitting there for GFL finals. Arm up the whole time

Is there any possibility that they can add in the bay or two taken out to cut cost and elevate the big screen, or is that ship officially sailed?
