News Simpson sacked

Bit of a nightmare scenario for WC. Surely would have been better keeping Simpson until the end of the season, they can effectively tank and get another high pick.
They could end up with an interim coach who wants the job, gets old blokes playing a bit, they win some games and end up effectively worse off?

Eagles should have kept Simpson and let him endure the pain until there was some light at the end of the tunnel.

Given their list profile, the Eagles will almost certainly be worse in 2025 and 2026 than today.

Good luck to Dean Cox, or maybe Ash Hansen, you'll need it. Worst job in the business.

Would need to be 5+ years on massive money to get me out of Sydney/Carlton.

Is that the same Roos who mentored Horse and Goodwin who both won flags.

Just because he made a little quip about your club doesn't mean he doesn't have any value.
The same guy that got a mate appointed to a job, then got himself in a highly-paid mentoring role, during which he decided to literally phone it in from Hawaii.

Just because he did some good things in the past, it doesn't get him off the hook for his more recent work.

I don't reckon they are going to offer you the job.

Whoever takes over has a long road ahead of them, West Coast have got a long way to go before they even think about finals again, need to clean out a few veterans start truly blooding the younger players.

Or not, I'd be fine with West Coast staying at the bottom for a long time.

In the words of the foxfooty team, wc players had gotten fat after the clubs splurged on big contracts on the players instead of the team being ruthless and traded out some non critical players with enhanced reputation to get big returns.

The job is made much harder with the tasmania thing.

Ideally wc has already bottomed but they still have like 7 veterans to deal with plus their drafting over the last 4 years have been appalling with only harley as standout pick.

Perhaps Dean Cox signalled his availability and the board decided now is the time
If Cox was willing to come home you'd reckon they wouldn't bother looking any further after Yze was best of a poor bunch last off season.

WC will be doing a big sell to Cox, although it may have already been done. Is this why the Swans are suddenly dropping games, because Cox has been distracted elsewhere?

We're not finishing higher than 16th even if we win a couple more games. Crows are three wins ahead of us in 15th.

Disagree. Totally losing the list and rotting for 2-3 years will weigh heavily on his reputation.

Leon Cameron is the GM of the Swans. The idea that good coaches (or even average coaches) disappear simply isnt true. If he wants a job he will get a job.

Definitely the right thing to do in hindsight, but in real time you don't gut a list when you think you've still got a shot.
