Whos strats?

Strnadica

Wonder if he got told he wasn't getting a new contract for next year so he just decided to pull up stumps early

Not really sure where to post this, but it seems the obvious place:

Soft cap going up $500k in 2023 and $250k in 2024. We absolutely must spend at least some of that (other than the mandated) on improved medical and S&C staff.
Couldn’t agree more.

Need a full clean out and start again.

My friend started as a club doctor this year and is surrounded by old fossils/jobs for the boys crew.

During his press conference when asked about Tom Cole, Simpson all but conceded he wouldn’t play this year

Focus is on getting him (and other long term injured players) fit before off season so they can get a full preseason

Can they just bite the bullet it and return it to pre-covid levels? They are only holding it back as a couple of povvo clubs can't afford to pay the full amount. Hell, I'm sure the rich clubs would agree to make up the difference from their end of the AFL distributions.

In addition they did say some Medical would be considered outside the soft cap as well. Things such as psychs etc wont be coming out of the cap

Hire a shitload of actual doctors, strength and conditioning guys, an entire hospital etc, set up our own university and give them all psych degrees so it can all come outside of the cap.

It's what a real powerhouse club would do.
I think that's part of the idea of partnering with universities. Lean on their grad students to cover some of the S&C roles.

If true, seems to be working out well for us.

Not

I’d have real concerns about the competency of the uni team. Uni is but a first step in developing expertise. Fock I didn’t start real learning until after I’d finished uni.

I’ve met loads of students through the physio I go to regularly and none of them have ever done anything with West Coast. Most of them get work experience with Ammo squads.

I've got no probs with the soft cap but the tax is ridiculous.

The tax in baseball is 1) at a much more adequate rate, and 2) much simpler to understand

Tax Rates for MLB Teams Surpassing CBT Threshold
Number of Seasons Over CBT ThresholdTax Rate
1 season20%
2 consecutive seasons30%
3 or more consecutive seasons50%

I can't find them now but the rules around the AFL soft cap were overly complex and from memory, the starting rate was 50% which is way OTT.
