Official injury list (5) released 4/3

Season (1) :
• Dom Sheed (Knee)

TBC (1) :
• Campbell Chesser (Ankle)

Medium Term (2) :
• R5-7 Callum Jamieson (Ankle/Knee : 6-8 weeks)
• R5-7 Elliot Yeo (Ankle/Knee : 6-8 weeks)

Short Term (1) :
• R1-2 Rhett Bazzo (Foot : 2-3 weeks)

This is in reference to the Yeo injury i assume?

We turned pick 3 into Baker, Owies, Allen and Gross (and can add Graham who doesn't come without Baker imo)

We're in a much better position to cover for Yeo than if we had just taken Draper (who's struggling with back issues)
It’s also a bit ironic considering Yeo was recruited as a half back and still isn’t really a 100% natural on-baller.

It’s been difficult tracking the true extent of our injury list over preseason primarily because clubs, including ours, are under no obligation to share details unless they see fit. The media sometimes report on what they see but are focused on name players so anything they provide is going to be incomplete

We’ve also had a preseason so far where numerous players have been in and out, or withheld completely, of training with the main group as they work their way to full fitness

However, the 60 minute matchsim on Friday gave us the best insight to our injury list so far this off season. All but 6 players participated in the match albeit at least 3 players (Edwards, Sheed and Chesser) had their game time managed by sitting out the final 2x10 minute periods

Graham (personal reasons) and Waterman (unexplained) didn’t play but there’s no indication or media reports that either player is injured.

That leaves four players out of action:

• Yeo - well publicised MCL and Cindy Moses injury that looks all but certain to keep him out of the opening rounds of 2025. A return date has not been set
• Jamieson - continues work to overcome a groin/leg issue that has kept him in rehab all offseason. Still to join the main group beyond the initial low intensity warmup drills
• Bazzo - fractured his foot just before Christmas that setback an otherwise promising build throughout preseason. Is out of a moon boot and has started walking/jogging laps again in a sign he might be ready by the start of the season
• Baker - rolled his ankle on Wednesday but was back running on Friday. Garden variety sprain that he admitted wouldn’t have prevented him from playing had it been an actual match

Harley Reid was the one casualty from the matchsim we know about after he was seen going into the rooms with a leg issue early in the match. McQualter has told 6PR it’s just a bit of soreness and downplayed it’s seriousness.

thanks again for your reports.
Will obviously have more injuries but a good start to Feb for the team.

The concern with Harley is this is the second time in preseason that the injury has flared up. This means that best case is he has to struggle all through the season with it. Or it becomes a problem and he misses weeks to deal with it.

Given he hasn't had a great preseason anyway, I'm expecting this could be a quieter year for him. Maybe a reality check that it takes a lot of consistent hard work to become elite.

The
@WestCoastEagles
will release an update on Harley Reid shortly - but I’m told it’s not a serious injury, just enough to keep him on a managed workload at this stage. He’ll miss a broadcast promo shoot in Melbourne tomorrow as the club doesn’t want him flying.

It wouldn't be the 'injury you have' so he doesn't have to fly?

We could have compensation, my point is we could have another younger player learning with this group, now we have nothing. And this won't be his only injury (impact or not), he's not durable enough anymore to play AFL. Move on, work with someone else, stop wasting our money.
Well that is a very simplistic view on list management.

Very simplistic.
