From a security perspective alone, that is pretty concerning. You could fit a whole lot of weapons/explosives in a cello case. Many, many years ago a friend of mine at school took the case for his double bass or cello or whatever stringed instrument he played and just walked in behind the band. He had no prior knowledge of where the band would enter, but figured an instrument case could work if he were forced to make a feverish plea to a security guard. Turns out he didn't need to because he stumbled upon a bunch of kids getting off a minibus carrying their instruments and followed them in.
Given this thread is 129 pages long, he may have also told the story in here!
As much as I enjoyed watching this years ago....it's kinda disappointing that it only took 1 AFL Grand Final in WA in order for a couple of guys to not only sneak in but also film it.
We're still waiting for the MCG equivalent.
Was over 97k in 2006. Will be 98419Plenty of tickets available this year.
Sneaking not required
Not provisional. Restricted.100K like always. Provisional MCC members will just hang out the front until they get the message they can come in

I concur with this sentiment.Perhaps play the Grand Final in Newcastle, neutral venue that is not too hard for either sides fans to get to?

Geography not a strong suit?
So Ballina or Coffs Harbour is more your suggestion?

It's funny cause prior to 2017 most grand finals were in the 99k areas (except 2013).We’ll never know. They’ll just say 100,024 like they do every year now.

More corporates finding their way in I'd imagine.

I did laugh at 2022 announcing 100,024 (every single person with a ticket attending) When I know someone who didn't use their ticket or their spare ticket. We’ll never know. They’ll just say 100,024 like they do every year now.
God speed and may you get an inattentive Indian security guy who’s half asleep at the turnstileGoondiwindi. Call it the Battle of the Border.
Also on topic for the thread glad it's back in action this week! I've been saving up my pass outs all year, going to give them a crack come Grand Final Day.
100,022 then.I did laugh at 2022 announcing 100,024 (every single person with a ticket attending) When I know someone who didn't use their ticket or their spare ticket.
And not one year it has hit capacity has the MCC ever locked the doors to more walk up MCC members from coming in. Suggests they're just exceeding capacity and reporting the stated capacity much like FIFA did for the women's world cup matches.I did laugh at 2022 announcing 100,024 (every single person with a ticket attending) When I know someone who didn't use their ticket or their spare ticket.
These stories are quite concerning if true. Might need to give MCG a ring to keep security on their toes…
We only bump it for nostalgia.Probably the quietest this thread will ever get
