I couldn’t work out the holding the ball against Grundy. He took a pack mark and the ump called play on.
Cole did the same thing and got a 50m penalty.
Sheed played on and got a second chance to go back over the mark. Three similar incidents, three different results.

Agreed. Few dodgy calls at crucial moments didn't help but I cannot count how many times we kicked it out in the 2nd half only to have it rebound back inside their 50.
Long down the line to the Olympic Stand wing, rinse and repeat. Needed to change up our kick ins, perhaps some run and carry or switching to the other side of the ground. It was too late and too broadcast when Maynard decided to attempt roosting the last one into the square centre.

I guess you just don’t see it - his amazing courage and strength.

Oh well, we all see things differently.

To me it’s a pity you don’t see it. As you’re missing some great plays.
3 - 4 times during the game Kennedy and Darling took easy chest marks in the forward 50, and Pendles was sitting off the hole and didn't go when he needed to.

Sure he gets a contested ball, never crashes packs though

Ok so I’ve had a day and I’m not whinging because we played crap in that last quarter, lost all run and kept bombing it down the line, in fact it was only a matter of time before we cracked. Having said that that mark paid to Sheed, a more obvious blocking free you’ll never find, in fact the WCE should be laughing their heads off that they got away with it. To blatantly turn away from the ball and push the incoming defender out of the way. Ffs, the talk that the whistles get put away because they don’t want a free to change the game is crap, we had an obvious free not paid and it changed the game.

I am frustrated because bs like this keeps happening to us and 2 premierships in 60 years puts us in the lower ranks of the competition, their is too much “we are proud of them” and not enough, “that’s not good enough, do something about it.”
We are supposed to be a top club yet I feel we have settled for mediocrity at least as a supporters base. That’s not good enough and I’m sure I’ll be accused of not being a true supporter and all the other BS that goes on here in BF but I want my club to be a success not close enough is good enough, leave that to StKilda and the bulldogs etc not us.

Ok I think that’s finally it for me in 2018, now I can shake my head at the Aussie cricket selectors and hope Finchy rips it up in the UAE.
The thing is though if we're good enough we'd have taken other earlier opportunities and such things like the Ryan mark, Rioli block and Sheed play on wouldn't matter.

Not even 20 years old yet and I've already witnessed 4 Grand Final losses.

****.
Well it's better than 5 spoons. Thankfully one can always look to the current Carlton side for how things could be much, much worse.

Yep, those decisions don't really matter in the context of the game when for like 15 minutes we couldn't even get it out of the back pocket and were so one dimensional.

Kudos to your fans yesterday!

Whilst boisterous and passionate (with quality banter during the game) - they were nothing but gracious and sporting afterwards. Huge numbers stuck around for the presentations !

Commiserations on your loss - like us you fought through missing a lot of your best talent to surprise the football world!

Bring on 2019

ps Richmond fans I met at pubs afterwards were insufferable though!

Tbh if there was one team I'd be happy to lose to in a Grand Final it was WC. We'll be back next year when we have matured.
Enjoy your win.

Or alternatively the lengthy periods in the last when we had the ball locked inside our forward 50 or had repeat entries and shots on goal ourselves and couldn't break through.

Just a quick word from the big apple. I watched the game from The Australian Bar in NYC and I must say I was pretty devastated. Having said that, I just want to give a huge shout out to everybody involved in this great club of ours. Players, coaches, administration and supporters alike have been awesome this season and all should be so proud of what has been an unbelievable result despite not taking the chocolates. Given what this team accomplished in the face of huge adversity we should all regard our result as a fairytale season. Eagles may say that they suffered adversity too but it pales into insignificance compared to what we suffered. I for one am immensely proud of my club right now. Onward and upward... bring on 2019!

commiserations guys, that would of been heart breaking. You guys went to another level throughout the finals series, would have been deserved winners. Good luck in 2019!
Shame you only have 52 posts. A class above the majority of your fellow supporters. Please post more so the good can out number the bad.

90% of thew footy world knows it was an illegal Sheppard.
True, but 99% of the footy world knows Shuey was taken high by Cox. You can’t just pick out the one that went against you and say “that’s why we lost”.

In general play we were inferior enough that we couldn’t protect a five-goal lead. That’s why we lost... just.

Hope I’m not intruding.

Huge commiserations for yesterday. Was an outstanding game.

For years Pendals has been my favourite player outside of my club. This year I’ve admired the way you guys have gone about your football. Pendals and Bucks have been what all clubs leaders should aspire to be.

The way Bucks took time yesterday to console the lady over the failed banner was great to see.

You guys definitely have now become my second team. Good luck next year.

There's merit in your sentiment - however if you look at Richmond last year they have an eerily similar star v role player list that won it.

You could look at the power teams in season that just dominated and owned the leagues stars, like 08,09 and 11 all those teams lost what they should've won.

If you are correct in why we can't get it done vs a more talented list like the eagles yesterday then co incidence is indeed against us. As I've said the "lesser" against the power teams, why can't it be us for once.

08. Stewy Dew had a purple patch, Hawthorn worked to their strengths when rushing behinds. They identified a flaw in Geelong and exploited it. Hodge was enormous. They also had Clarkson.
09. I picked Geelong to win it because they were in their 3rd straight GF. Saints had a tough one against the Bulldogs in the prelim whereas Geelong smashed us by 12 goals. Geelong's best = Chapman (goal), Rooke, Milburn, Taylor, Selwood, Ablett, Corey, Bartel, Ling, Scarlett. Fair list. No surprise.
11. Aaaargh! Stevie ****in J, Jimmy ****in Bartel. We were like the cast of Major League 2. Funny movie, worth a look. The last round smashing they gave us sounded the alarm for me. The two finals against WCE and Hawthorn were unconvincing. Geelong's run in was easier coz they hit their straps at the right time.

Tigers had a dream run with injuries so their balance wasn't affected. We had our issues and didn't have the fit players available to mix things up. It's an explanation, not an excuse. We were there, we had a chance but it didn't pan out for a variety of reasons.

We'll never know what a fit Moore, Elliot, Reid, Dunne and even Wells could have done for us. I'm struggling to work that out at the moment. Won't compare to WCE because they have a different list, different game so different needs.

Us Collingwood supporters can be grateful for their existence.
They make us look good.:)

Nah.. you guys do that for yourself

I never experienced Vic Park, but never a drama at the MCG or Perth

Only times I get worried for safety is against Carlton

Commiserations folks. To come from four seasons out of the finals and go within a few minutes of winning a flag is a remarkable effort. You guys had a great season despite a shitload of injuries and I think when the dust settles, it'll be clear that there was a massive silver lining to your performance in 2018. The gains you made were real and sustainable. With that core of players you've got, you'll be right in the hunt for the next few years. I don't think that would have been the case for WC had they lost. It was basically now or never for us.
