Alternately, I'd argue I can respect their progress without wanting them to win, and will happily congratulate them if they do win, it's just that I don't want them to win.
I got a horrible, horrible feeling that they're on the verge of a dynasty.
Some of their supporters think the same way! I asked a die hard if she was getting nervous about the game yet? She replied no and that she could have gone as she had a ticket but decided not to. Why not go? It's taken you 19 seasons to get to a GF? To which she replied I will go next year, we will be in the GF again.I got a horrible, horrible feeling that they're on the verge of a dynasty.
It doesn't but it should.
A rivalry either exists or it doesn't, you don't flip flop based on the situation. Wishing them well and hoping they win a Grand Final is, ironically, the sort of fickleness associated with morons or 6 year olds.
That's funny because my daughter has never had anything purple either! I used to show her purple tops or skirts at the shops when she was little and she would say " I'm not wearing that, it's dockers colours!"God this hard hard to say..for 19 years I have not had a single purple thing in my house, husband and kids either..we girls have never even worn purple clothes or purple nail polish and I have never allowed a purple cushion or blankie or anything in the house..absolute truth.
But the day had to come when they finally made a Grand Final, I've always hoped it wasn't till I was too old and dribbling that I wouldn't even know or recognise footy anymore..but there you go, it's this year and since they are playing now in a Grannie I'm glad that it's while Pav is still there, I'll be happy for him. Acks.
That's funny because my daughter has never had anything purple either! I used to show her purple tops or skirts at the shops when she was little and she would say " I'm not wearing that, it's dockers colours!"
And she doesn't even like football!
My grandchildren are the same. When in Kindy, my grandson would only ever use blue and yellow to colour. When he saw people on the street wearing the purple gear, he would stare and say (usually in a very loud and disgusted voice ) yuck, those are Dockers !
I got a horrible, horrible feeling that they're on the verge of a dynasty.
On a more important issue, I understand that St Vincent DePaul has urgently requested the Barnett Govt and the public provide it with funds to cope with the expected influx of requests for special assistance from the 20,0000 odd Dockers supporters who have spent their life savings and maxed their credit cards out by going to Melbourne. So please give generously for the underprivileged.
From a garlic muncher............ delicious irony seeing as you lot all bankrupted yourselves for tickets and bus fares to the granny last weekend
Bullshit. I have a rivalry with my brother. But if I'm watching him compete in something I cheer for him, not the other competitors.
So you see Freo as being like family. We're obviously at very different ends of the spectrum as I find that bizarre but there you go.
Out of curiosity, if a dynasty happens will you be supporting them even if it means they win four Premierships and overtake the Eagles as WA's most successful AFL team? Hypothetically of course.
No you dim wit. I'm not even supporting Freo this weekend.
I was responding to your ridiculous assertion that a rivalry can not be conditional, of course it can.
And that's why I have no problem with others here wanting to support Freo for their own reasons. Who are you to tell them they're less of a supporter than you? As long as they fully support West Coast in every single game they are actually playing in, then they are a West Coast supporter.
I assume you've never missed an Eagles home game being such a staunch supporter.
No you dim wit. I never said anything about them being less of an Eagles supporter. Go back and have a re-read like a good lad, you might get it second time round
In case that's too difficult, I said that I don't understand somebody supporting their local rivals in any situation. That doesn't mean they support the Eagles less, I'm sure they're still 100% behind our team, but the concept of some becoming 'Freagles' decked out in purple tomorrow is just wrong imo. I'm not fickle like that.
Griffin and Clarke both performed more than capably this year, and they have a couple more developing rucks in the WAFL. Well stocked IMO.their ruck stocks are average at best minus Sandi.
