Rather than Vossy go, the whole selection panel needs to take a long hard look at themselves. No incentive to reward good form in the reserves, picking players still recovering from injury rather than fit players, what have the players in the two's got to look forward to if they never get a senior game, Binns is a good example here. Something is not right with management. Maybe Lloyd needs to go.

The list we have had from 22-24 is built on contest and pressure …..It’s build on winning the clearance, “braining them in the middle”

It’s similar to Melbourne when they are dominating except they have never had the tall forward line talent we have…it’s why we have have had some epic tussles with them in this timeframe

Once we are unable to sustain bash and crash we are done…we are poor at transition but have been decent in forward half turnovers which give us enough looks to keep the scoreboard ticking over

However if we can’t force a turnover we are either sliced through or our zone is picked apart…if we do win it back D50 we aren’t skilled enough to go through corridor… it’s bail out kicks to the wing ( to a contest) to hopefully force a stoppage…rinse, repeat

We can't sack Voss. One of the biggest problem this club has is reputation. Our coach sacking has meant that we have developed a rep for that. Which means we can't offer what any employee wants, job security.

This means that if a better club wants the same coach as we do, we don't get them. We get the dregs. We started the rot. Now we need to do the time fixing our rep and proving to the football community that we are a stable and really good place to work.

Carlton the coach friendly and supportive club? We aren't there yet, still getting tested. Cook helps. But I am sure managers would be really sceptical of us.
Kingsley wanted to coach us before we chose Voss over him. Would you consider him a dreg?

I just don’t buy into this reputation stuff. The reality is that there are only 18 AFL head coaching jobs available. We can still entice the very best - we have just sucked at identifying who is the best this century. I would bet you anything that the best assistants out there would still take the Carlton job even if we sacked Voss at the end of this season.

Looks like we are stuck with Crazy Vossy guys. Things get really crazy soon…
Reading the room, Cook and Sayers won't push that button (sack him). In fact not hearing from either and those dreaded words "we support him 100%" also cements those views.

I just hope Cook, Sayers, etc are now locking themselves in a room (Sayers hiding in a bunker somewhere with at least an internet connection for Skype/Teams whatever) and making bold plans to remedy things quick.

They know strength and conditioning is number 1, so go out there and spend money wisely. Use Russell's salary to perhaps get 2 people that can bounce off one another with strengths from different spectrums of the field - would be funny with our new state of the art facility if our players continue to suffer soft tissue and such - great selling point.

Skills coaching is number 2 - our skills suck! Handballs miss all the time, kicks all have some random number attached to the calculation of the trajectory, and the big one is tackling. Boost and change that department and even say farewell to a few existing there.

Line coaching is number 3 - find better.

Recruitment, talent profiling and list balance - now with equalisation this can be tough and with our glut of potential F&S's coming. Be ballsy, be targetted, make sure everyone is in synch with the list profile direction to suit whatever the style is. If we get only 1 Campo because we need someone of a different profile then so be it. Be ballsy in trade - McGovern, Cerra, Saad, Kemp, Young, Motlop, Williams, Owies, Pitto, C.Durdin are various names that should be bandied about. So we might get a couple late 2nd or 3rd (even future ones) for some of those or swap for players that fill a need.. use those points to sell to someone to boost up positions a bit, for example Brisbane getting another Ashcroft. We should delist Martin, Marchbank, S.Durdin, Cunners (Cunners is one you may be able to try trading for a 3rd/4th rounder perhaps), Akuei, Mirkov,

Number 0 - new General Manager of Football.

Such shake ups below the Senior Coach and playing list indicate intent and expectations on delivery. If that doesn't spark up the joint 2025 we'll see perhaps another senior coach gone with our President, another 8 or so from the list, an aging list heading out of their prime, and a nice drop in membership.

Where’s the James Hird option?

Nigel Lappin

Head of development at Geelong. He’s overseen the development of youngsters that have propelled the cats from outside the eight to a home prelim. Midfield coach during years where they made grand finals and won premierships. He’s worked under the best coach in the league for a long time. Clearly would have a working relationship with our CEO. Ideal candidate for mine.

An ex-teammate of Voss. Would he want to work under him?
