Re: A-League 2011/2012 Kits

Is the one of the first times sydney have worn their home against victory?

Yes I think it was, there's more white in Victory's kit now so there isnt really a clash between Sydney's kit and our kit.

Also Sydney's away kit is navy blue so that obviously can't be worn against Melbourne.

The reason Sydney wore their away kit against melbourne in the past isn't due to any clash (as sky blue and navy blue don't clash) was the a-league had a rule of away teams wearing their away kit (unless there was a clash), hopefully that rule shouldn't apply now.

Also you will find that Sydney's new away kit is black not navy blue.

That rule was a little selectively applied however.

You'll find in finals that Adelaide and Melbourne always wore their home kits (and so they should as its Blue v Red) but Sydney and Melbourne didn't, even in a grand final (if Sydney was forced to wear white/sky blue shorts it would've been better).

That rule looks to have gone out the window as teams have moved away from the pure white away kits.

Re: A-League 2011/2012 Kits

^^ What he said.

In finals, both teams wear home kits unless there is a clash. Melb vs Syd, the away team always wore their away kit.

No idea why Sydney didn't wear their away.

Re: A-League 2011/2012 Kits

Was watching a tiny bit of the Gold coast Wellington game and noticed that alot of the Nix players had the button undone during the game IMO it was stupid to have a collar with buttons on there shirt

I may not like where Brisbane went with their design, but at least they didn't go with this...

Aren't yellow and black colours of Malaysia? Might be a sponsor promotion kit.

The rule was relaxed in recent seasons but both teams wore navy shorts which would have created a minor clash, so I think for that reason they stuck with Home Kit vs Away Kit for all Melb v Syd fixtures.

Sydney's new kit is black, I was confusing it with the new navy England away kit (which is awful by the way!).

Re: A-League 2011/2012 Kits

Definitely a clash between Perth and Adelaide tonight. Why didn't Adelaide just wear their home kit?

Re: A-League 2011/2012 Kits

Can't say it crossed my mind either.

General comments on the opening weekend:-

For those commenting on the Fox Sports scoreboard with colours, I think it's a great little addition. Particularly with all the foreign hues being bandied around!
Except someone at Fox got a bit hubris with their new toy and forgot that Syndey's black would be a horrible clash with navy, particularly with the numbers.

Speaking of which - having metallic gold numbers on the back of Newcastle's Barcelona-ripoff brought back some respectability for mine. I thought, however, the blue would be navy, like their old away kit?

I thought Heart's red shorts looked smart with the white top - obviously would have to be white in Adelaide.

Can we think of any more nuances in the kit fixtures?
I can see Perth wearing purple shorts away to MV, but it could still be tough viewing...

Can't wait to see the Glory's away shirt in action next week - the home is a disgrace, as is the price (that goes for most A-League shirts I've seen... Reebok has left a bad legacy).

Re: A-League 2011/2012 Kits

For the scoreboard, I'd have
Adelaide: red with yellow number, black w/ red
Brisbane: orange with black, other way round
Mariners: Navy with yellow, other way round
Gold Coast: Yellow with blue, white with blue
Heart: Red with white, other way round, Grey with red
Victory: Navy with white, fluoro green with navy
Newcastle: blue with red, black with white
Perth: purple with white, reversed
Sydney: light blue with navy, black with light blue
Wellington: black with yellow, white with black.

So, to cut a long story short, use the primary and secondary colours on the kit.

Newcastle's blue is lighter to match both the Knights blue and the traditional colours of the city.

The Heart will probably wear their 3rd strip in adelaide (charcoal one)

Perth might go with purple shorts as they will work well against the Victory's white shorts.

But for this week apart from Perth/Adelaide the rest of the games looked great.

Re: A-League 2011/2012 Kits

Don't worry about it imo. There's always tasks at hand that haven't been completed by somebody already (or haven't been completed that well - in the case of AussieKits.com we as a collective could do a lot better), so put your enthusiastic energy towards that.

Re: A-League 2011/2012 Kits

Sorry dude.

Try something plain, mostly white in background.
