Don't know why you feel you should tell me that. Of course it's personal. Why do you think I despise shitty pop music? The vast majority of it is formulaic, has no outstanding musicianship, and relies on sucking people in with some "catchy" phrase repeated ad nauseam in spite of rubbish lyrics. There's nothing complex about most pop music.
By your own admission you say Most, but how much is that exactly? I don't agree with respect to Lady Gaga. I'd agree with some of your sentiments on artists like Jack Harlow, but who am I to say that the music is shit if it resonates with a lot of people. I do believe there is an element of conformity in society to fit in as you see this on Instagram with trending Reels. I can sort of see where you're coming from with that respect but you can't paint every popular artist with the same brush.

By all accounts, we should be saying Radiohead is shit because their lyrics are non sensical. But yet their music is brilliant. Or could we then extend that to Bowie and say he was shit because he had a sub standard voice?

Just because a song resonates with a lot of people doesn't mean it's not shit though does it? A lot of people love to smash a big mac on the way home from the footy - we all know maccas is shit food though.
Comparing shitty lyrics of a pop song to elements of such unique, original and diverse artists like Bowie and Radiohead is like comparing fast food to Michelin star restaurant food. Shit is shit. It's fine if anyone wants to listen to shit but it's disappointing when people preference it over quality.

These people have waaay too much time on their hands LOL
Haha not me with every first word of my posts in a SFA match thread a few seasons ago making up the chorus of All Star aye?

Comparing music is a lot more complex than the metrics for fast food.

My point about Bowie is there are people don't like him because of his voice, but we both know he's got a lot more to offer having a lot of influence from classical music.

The video Stokey shared is interesting and I don't disagree. I've talked about it so many times where people listen to music because everyone else is listening to it. Go on instagram and see how many people are using Jack Harlow, and Beyonce on their reels. There is a whole study of psychology on conformity.

I think it's unfair to compare Harlow to Gaga. Not all popular music is equal. Let's be realistic, Duran Duran, Pet Shop Boys, Metallica, and Nirvana were all top of the chart bands.

Oh yeah. Throw Beyonce's Texas Hold em in there. Appalling lyrics.
But unlike Swift and GaGa there seems to be a hidden rule that Beyonce can't be questioned.

I'll be honest i might hear the lyrics of a song but not actually take them in, especially in a scenario like this where i'm only listening to a song once. I'm certainly not judging songs in the contest based off lyrics , but that's just the way i approach the song contest.

Most of your noms don't have lyrics.

exactly , i enjoy the music rather than concentrating on lyrics or the singer

I think the result for my nom last week, George Harrison's 'Art of Dying' is one of the most remarkable so far. It is close to his best imho, along with 'What Is Life' and 'Awaiting On You All'. I have been playing it in my head as well as listening to different versions over the last week. The lyrics are fascinating, basically about reincarnation. Wiki has a good article about the song - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Art_of_Dying_(song)
And the arrangement and music on the All Things Must Pass version are epic, including some amazing guitar from Eric Clapton.
Spookily while I was pondering this, they had a segment on 3AW about 'spine tingling experiences' and someone rang in and nominated George's intro on 'You Can't Do That' :p
For those who might prefer them, here are some different versions.
