Hey song contestants, I've started a GoFundMe campaign to bring MP_ to Melbourne in the new year as South Australia clearly isn't worth visiting.

I swear, between VB and Aqua, one of them are here every year! Starting to cost a pretty penny...

Acts/festivals skipping Adelaide seems to be getting worse by the month. The fact that Canberra, Hobart, Wollongong and Christchurch are on that list, but not Adelaide is especially telling.

Can't speak for other festivals/bands mate as it's not something I follow, but kidding aside, these look to be smaller shows given the venues. They were down here as part of the much bigger SoPop just a couple of years back which played in Adelaide as well. They're playing at festival hall down here as opposed to the usual Margaret Court Arena / John Cain etc so very much expecting a reduced capacity.

Somewhat expected when they keep returning so often - you lose that 'omg haven't seen them in decades!' factor. Both them and Aqua just seem to rotate the filler acts from the 90s and call it a new show :grinv1:

I'm not exactly upset about missing out on Vengaboys but a shit tonne of acts such as Alvvays, Spoon, War on Drugs, Two Door Cinema Club, Fleet Foxes and Fontaines D.C. have all skipped Adelaide while including Perth on their recent tours. All acts which I would see in a heartbeat, but can't unless I fork out an extra few hundred dollars in airfares. Needless to say, if you love music, then Adelaide isn't exactly the place to be.

Song contest update -

Only 6 people have voted and there's already a runaway favourite.
7 people including your host are on donuts.

Fun Tubbsfarquhar SC fact: Tubbs' first SC win came in round 18 with -

Earning a whooping 57 votes which remains the highest total they've received.

I remember the early days. No imagination to the noms, just a race to nom the biggest whore.

Ah eurodance!

One of the many sounds of my childhood.

Faaaaark livin joy is one of my all time favourite 90’s dance artists. I’ll load up the motorhome and park it in your driveway for this.

For some reason that song is having a bit of a tiktok revival. Hearing it everywhere.

It is a bit strange it's at Enmore theater but then in Wollongong it's at Waves and Canberra it's Southern Cross Club. Essentially a pub and an RSL.

Song Contest Update -

Only 9 people have voted so not much to say. The runaway leader has had their lead reined in slightly.

This was just a thinly veiled excuse to post another Tubbs fun fact -

In 900+ contests Tubbs has only won the Billy 6* times

*Although it's probably 5 since I can't see how this actually won with only 1 Billy -

Of those 5/6 Billy's my favourite is this electronic jam -

Anyway, get your votes in plz.

That's a spreadsheet error, but I have won six.

Sonseed - Jesus is My Friend
Animal Collective - My Girls
OneRepublic - Apologize
Kirin J Callinan - Big Enough
Nine Coronas
Action Bronson - Brunch

I think I missed Apologize, gee that's a harsh Billy as well.

That's a shockingly bad pick for a Billy.
Agree wholeheartedly. That said, I can see why given the Billy usually goes to the most, insert all the sarcasm, "exotic" genre like rap, metal, country, experimental etc when there's no Billy bait (as will most likely be the case this round).
My Girls/Animal Collective sound pretty unique from the usual SC fare which works against them -

It's been pretty good for visitors recently though: Unsound, Womadelaide, Harvest Rock (RIP). I've attended festivals around the world and Womadelaide is something pretty special IMO, more than holds it's own.

What I also love about Womadelaide too is that a lot of dj's who play Pitch festival in Victoria would do side shows, so you could go out to Womadelaide then get munted at Sugar afterwards, amazing times for me.

Was looking forward to this playlist as Tubbs and I have a decent overlap in music taste.

But everyone appears to have gone outside that overlap and then chosen the dullest possible option.
