Both good tracks. Whole album is solid, really glad you liked it. Their first release was alright, but not as good for my tastes.

I was happy to find an album with a male vocalist that I like so much. The last year and a half I've really struggled to find any male fronted stuff that sticks with me for some reason.

In saying that my probable number 1 for 2024 is male fronted, you might like it but they're a harder sell than the previous rec.

Tightened up their sound (their previous releases are a bit of a mess at times), had a vision for the sound they wanted and in my opinion, executed it to perfection. I'd probably start with 'my wife and the goblin'

I was going to join this round, had an artist in mind but their stuff isn't on YouTube so I spent too much time making a video, exporting it then trying to upload it to YouTube only for them to turn around and give me some bullshit error once it had finished.

It's a bit different and I'm sure some in here would argue it's not a song, but whenever one of their tracks comes on shuffle I get sucked into it. Very relaxing, spoken word, synth, cool drones and tones, weird shifts, ambientesque. It's 30 mins long so that would've been an issue for some also.

That face reminds me of Mulligrubs which was pure nightmare fuel.

That used to air just before Good Morning Australia, I reckon Moonface would've just been as scary for the kids as Mulligrubs was.

Anyone else surprised that a playlist about horses was so downbeat? I expected a bit more of a rollicking ride ...

Agree, even though I 2024 was a strong year for music I struggled to find many great male vocalist performances.

I thought that avant garde grin was familiar. It turns out Pitchfork reviewed it. And since they rated it over a 7 (a 7.7 in fact - https://pitchfork.com/reviews/albums/lip-critic-hex-dealer/) I must've listened to it. I didn't save any of their tracks which indicates not being enamoured the first time around. Really glad you prompted me to give it a second listen. I appreciate it much more for it's unique energy and sound. It's weird how uplifting it is despite using such industrial and experimental sounds. Saved "The Heart" and "Milky Max" to playlists this time around.

Fair enough to not enter it. I'd guess it would've been Billy'd mercilessly (maybe even by me tbh for it's length). That said I'm glad to have experienced it. The voice is relaxing yes but it's bloody sinister haha (poor Mr Mudlew). Gave me Lovecraftian vibes. Cheers again for sharing.

Daddy's gone, my brother's out huntin' in the mountains
Big John's been drinkin' since the river took Emmy Lou
So the powers that be left me here to do the thinkin'
And I just turned 22, I was wonderin' what to do
And the closer they got, the more those feelings grew

TURN IT DOWN!!!!

sorry, what? Couldn't hear you.

Yes. They did name their band after this song and yes those 'oohs' are gorgeous.

I don’t know how. But anyway, great song. Great album.
