Does anyone talk to Sswans2011 anymore? Miss his nominations. When him, joshy and endure were in the comp on the reg there was always guaranteed to be something new, challenging and exciting in the playlist.
He's still around.

SSwans2011

Ocha905 I think this was the first time I heard Right On Time - I was very impressed!

Love it (and hadn't heard it before). Thanks for sharing.

I discovered her through her Grammy performance of the song. Wanted to nom that version, as I think she's even better/more impressive live, but there's too much preamble unfortunately.

I made a one-off appearance quite a while back for a sports music round to nominate a gem by Neba Solo (it did pretty well and I was disappointed I couldn't melt for old time's sake) and was tempted by a music from Islamic countries round last year but ironically was in Morocco at Gnaoua Festival around the same time.

I've got the next week off before starting a new job, so might chuck something in for this round if I remember tomorrow.

Yo Och, do you get into hardcore electronic, breakcore, doof, hardbass etc at all? Might have an album you'll dig if so.
Hasn't been a genre I've heard where I haven't found something great. So yeah always up for trying whatever music has interested you.

Well said. I miss them too!

****ing nice my guy. Bet it was amazing. Been finding a lot of killer releases from Morocco lately, without seeking them out specifically.

Congrats, hopefully through choice and not forced.

Might feel a bit unsophisticated, base or abrasive to begin with, but a good variety in sounds (within the wheelhouse) that I don't often find on these type of albums. It's just a fun banger. He's not really making stuff like this anymore, and the releases prior aren't as whole. Sort of captured some brainless magic on this one.

I was looking at the analytics for my all time listened tracks and 3 of these songs occupy the top 3 spots, which surprised me as I didn't realise I'd listened to the album that much.

Technogaia's Dystopia Problem is my favourite, nommed it a while back.

It's an incredibly beautiful country and Gnaoua Festival was amazing.

I love Moroccan music, discovering the existence of Gnaoua Festival and the timing of when I intended to travel last year lining up with it was a big part of what pushed me towards Morocco. Essaouira, where the festival is hosted, is a lovely town.

Luckily for me, a few months after I returned there was a great album, "A Dream in Essaouira", released by Abdel Bennadi last year to transport me back there.
Congrats, hopefully through choice and not forced.
Very much through choice haha. Thanks mate.

Just had a quick squizz on google, it looks absolutely incredible. I was expecting it to be further inland. What a setting for a great festival.

Been here all of 2 seconds and dropping hot new recs. Odd link, but parts remind me of Moondogs snakerhythms. Fantastic.

OK it's tag time.

Voting has been extremely competitive with 16 of 25 songs on double figures, 5 of them on 20+

Some divisive tracks competing for podium spots while also racking up some Billys.

Leader will be hard to catch but all other spots very much up for grabs and hinging on these late voters.

Just need votes from:

spinynorman - thanks for the heads up

raskolnikov

Stokey

Plugger35 - no footy, no cricket, no excuses!

I might have to do a bulk results release as I'm playing some computer games with mates tonight.
Sorry guys, need to vlte early before weekend. Things just get out of control.

How do they judge how new an artist is for the 'best new artist' at the grammys? Khruangbin are nominated and I feel like they're over a decade old. Few other nominees have been around for a bit also.
Your guess is as good as mine as to how the Grammys work.

I'm amazed they still have any relevance at all.
