this comparison between cooney and gibbs is pointless and has no merit what so ever!
as mentioned they are at completely different stages of their career and development, a more realistic and better measure would be to compare them at identical stages, say at 50 games for example.

gibbs is harshly criticized i feel, and thats regardless of the fact i support carlton.
for some reason he has seemingly had more expectations to be this "gun" quicker than evry other young no1 pick in recent times. he entered an ordinary team and acquitted himself well enuf in his first season. you cant honestly say that all the other no1 picks in recent years have burst onto the scene and dominated. has definitely shown enuf promise to suggest he will be a very good servant and 200+ gamer for the club. the question remains will he be the game breaking star expected from no1 picks? but at least be half realistic and give him time to achive this, as stated, cooneys had 5 years to come to where he is now!!!!

In Cooney's 3rd year he got OP which hampered his season and hurt his pre-season for 07.

BUT he still managed to have games like round 20 2006 where he had 5 goals and about 33 possies showing his capabilities. I haven't seen that from Gibbs or Murphy yet
