Player Reviews:

Mayes - BOG by a mile, had a lot of the ball on the wing during the majority of the game, great kick and would have gained us a lot of ground.
McKenzie - Was a solid contributor down back and then went forward in the last quarter and kicked 3 goals(I missed 2 of them because it was dark). Great game at both ends.
Pudney - Ball magnet on the wing was involved with plenty of the play. Excited to see how he goes at SANFL level this year.
Ladhams - Rucked for 2 1/2 quarters, his contested marking early in the game on the 50m arc when South tried to get out was terrific. I think he was subbed out later in the game.
Frederick - Did very well defensively off half back and provided a lot of run off there too.
Corcoran - Very good defensively in the first half, Has grown heaps since he's come back from his year at Glenelg, good tackling and not slow either. Going to be a very handy depth KPD. Think he was subbed off in the 2nd half.
Hill - Kicked 2 goals at CHF in the first half then went to CHB in the 2nd or 3rd quarter. Think he was subbed out in the last. Good debut for the club.
Cox - Solid 1st half. Really good at leading. If we ever have a midget at full forward at AFL level, the idea of Cox is the player we need. Doesn't get caught out like Sam Gray or Jake Neade in contested situations.
Broadbent - Was a leader in the backline and was one of the reasons our defence let in only 41 points. Copped a big hit and got back up.
Frampton - Not as good as Ladhams, but still solid. For the most part his contested marking around the ground was ok, Didn't do much up forward though. Rucked in the 3rd quarter.
Johnson - Played at full forward for a bit, then went to half forward. Was involved enough throughout the game and didn't disappear like past games, kicked a goal, Gave someone a huge spear tackle.
Woodcock - Kicked 2 goals including a very sneaky one right near the end of the 3rd quarter.
Farrell - Was solid on the half forward flank involved in a bit of buildup play, kicked a goal. Doesn't seem like a focal point of the forward line like he was last year with Lindsay Thomas. It might mean his impact on games go down a bit but with more options up there it's harder for the other side to get on top of us.
Appleton - Was in the middle in the 2nd half, may have been subbed on. Was a pretty solid contributor, liked what I saw.
Sutcliffe - Played in the middle and was ok but I reckon the outside players had the bigger impact on this game. Was told he had a tagging role but I didn't really notice.
Sam Gray - Played in the forward pocket, Then after Patmore got injured he was in the middle in the last half. Didn't have as big of an impact at this level as he should have had IMO.
Howard - Didn't have a positive impact on the game I don't think. Hopefully he can bounce back next game. I can understand why the club dropped him as he probably has a few areas of his game he needs to work on.
Hewett - Didn't have a huge impact, but I saw him getting involved in the middle a bit.
Mead - Noticed he had a few good kicks, Don't think he got a lot of it though.
Patmore - Played in the middle, was passable then injured his knee halfway through the game via an awkward landing while leading up forward.
Garner - Played at half back, didn't really notice him.
Makoi - Saw him subbed on in the last quarter, rucked a little bit and had a few touches on the wing.
Elsworthy - Saved a certain goal after Howard got outmarked and the player played on and he tackled him. Apart from that didn't notice him much.
Strange - Got subbed on in the 2nd half, played at half forward in the 3rd quarter, kicked a ball out of bounds, then went to the back pocket in the last quarter.
Wong - Subbed on in the last quarter in the back pocket and didn't do much.
Smith - Subbed on in the last quarter and kicked a goal, was pretty dark so I didn't even see it.
Edwards - He's supposed to be a tall forward but he was subbed on in the last quarter and was at CHB. Saw him on the mark when a South player got a downfield free kick and shot on goal. Apart from that didn't do much in that small time he was given to play.

Shame about Dougs and Patmore but otherwise gives a bit of hope we might have some good depth and be more competitive in SANFL this year.
