Like the previous AFL round, this week appears one-sided

Seniors

Mount to beat Doveton by 50+

Dandenong to beat Endeavour by 30+

Sandown to beat Moorabbin by 28

Dragons to beat Lyndale by 15

Reserves

Mount to beat Doveton by 200+

Dandenong to be Endeavour by 150+

Sandown to beat Moorabbin by 50+

Dragons to beat Lyndale by 60+

Lyndale and Moorabbin to cause upsets. Hopefully Mount get up. Endeavour/Dandy game will be closer than most think, but Dandy to get over the line. Won't be surprised if it's by under 10 points.

Oh we're from Cobra land.. ba ba ba baaaaa. Very one sided fixtures this week.

I disagree, i believe it will be a very tight game between us (Sandown) and Moorabbin. Will be a good preview for the finals game in the next few weeks.
Doveton are playing for a finals spot and although i dont think they will beat mount, i reakon there might only be 4 goals in it. Doveton seem to run out of legs in the last quater in alot of their games.

I was at Weatherall road (Chelt) yesterday, the ground is in great condition. Perfect for finals!

Some interesting results on the weekend do you take a lot out of it??
Mainly Sandown going down by such a significant margin.. A bit flat since finals are set in stone? players out?
same as mount struggling against Doveton..
Figures Dandy really fell off a cliff after losing to doveton a few weeks ago so that result wasn't a surprise

Just beaten by a more talented side.

Well with a month to go Dandy all but had 5th wrapped up needing to win 2.... which included doveton, Lyndale and falcons all winnable, not to mention dragons who seem to be really good where they can and have beaten every1.. but can be average and you had beaten them ealier in the year.

Definitly thrown away finals action

This week will be interesting because the ladder cannot change and the top 5 are set in stone. Lyndale would have to beat southern by over a 100 points to make it and that won't happen. I think teams will be resting players and training harder during the week in preparation for finals.

Probably more like 200 points. And hope Doveton lose, which you seem to have already assumed? :p

Whilst it's only Monday and I'm not on the selection panel, I'm pretty sure we won't be resting anyone as some blokes still have a lot to prove and we've already sealed the week off anyway, so resting blokes for 2 weeks is a bit risky.

Yeah definitly would think resting should have been done at latest last week.. as a team you like to be set and as a player unless you really are carrying something, i think stringing a few games together is far better than going into finals cold.
Just my preference :D

dragons average:thumbsdown: you giving us to much credit:thumbsdown: we are truth be known pathetic:eek: and are at least 3to 5 years away from winning a grand final:Dto many of our players just run and kick or hanball like spudders:eek: glad i am finishing with them this year:) my time there $ wise was fantastic:thumbsu::thumbsu::thumbsu::thumbsu::thumbsu: football wise $h it house. p.s. i will miss the $$$$$$$$s

Some interesting results from the weekend:

Dandy running over the top of the Dragons in the Seniors, but then getting beaten in the Reserves. Any word on what happened at Greaves Reserve yesterday?

Mount defeated Endeavour Hills to the tune of 140 points in the Seniors and 193 points in the Reserves. What happened at Mayfield yesterday?

Moorabbin and Doveton continued their good form leading into the finals with strong wins over Lyndale and Sandown.

Let the finals begin.....

It wasn't pretty, that's for sure. Hills were quite Doveton like in their umpire backchat, giving away plenty of frees, and a 100m penalty at one stage. In hindsight 140 points perhaps could have been a lot more, our 3rd quarter was disgusting but at least gives us something to work on for the next couple of weeks.

I'd Say Doveton over Dragons is pretty much a formality, lock it in.

As for Sandown, well going into finals 2 loses on the trot is not exactly ideal. Getting pounded by the kangas 2 weeks before meeting them in a final also not ideal. But having not seen either of Sandown's 2 loses, who knows what happened. Maybe they rested half their side. Maybe they tried out new things (that clearly didn't work). Maybe in the Moorabbin match up they didn't want to reveal their strategies. You never know come game day, which is the great thing about finals.

If I had to put money on that game, well, I'd have to base it on what we've faced the last time we played either team and I'd say Moorabbin were harder at it, but less skilled and their discipline was atrocious. If they can overcome the discipline issues, i think their hardness will get them over the line in a final, but I think it will be extremely close as Sandown themselves aren't exactly soft at it.

The interesting facet to this game is that Doveton really are flying at the minute, so whoever happens to lose, may see themselves go out in straight sets.

Would hardly call a 2 point win over Dandy and a 9 point win over End Hills (2 of last 4 weeks) flying.... probably winning more like your SC team is ... just scraping in :)

What about getting with 2 goals of top of the ladder and a 4 goal win against a finals team? You'd take that over what Sandown have managed to amass in the past 2 weeks.

Essendon beat St kilda 2 years ago for their only loss of the year. Does that mean they were flying?? I guess north Melbourne and Richmond are flying in the AFL based on your rules. They've improved based on last 2 weeks but not flying.

mate im flying :D:D:D:D:D

Definitly some an interesting result with the sandown doveton game... heard that sandown was actually 40-8 up early in the second then didn't kick a goal for near on 3 quarters!!

Strong confidance boosting win for Doveton but at the same time Sandown had a few out plus at least 1 quality player playing injured...doesn't sound like strong depth for a club with 4 sides if that was an excuse?

Just sets everything up for 2 very interesting finals in week 1.. good luck to every1 :D

Poor form SFL, any chance you might actually put on your website where finals venues are this year... Division 3 start this week and still nothing, get up with the times SFL and you might actually boost the crowds if you were to use your main advertising tool to your advantage.

Doveton also had a few out so thats no excuse for sandown. Will be a awesome finals series. Mount will be the front runners by a mile.

Whose tip so far being Week 1 of the Finals?

Seniors
Mount look strong, but Moorabbin (former Premiers) and Dragons look to be the threat to steal the premiership.

Reserves
Mount would be favorites, but Sandown and Dandenong always play well in finals for this grade.

Dragons? Really? If they get past week one I'll be genuinely surprised.

Jack barker reserve is in great condition as I stated earlier in the forum. Perfect for finals. But yes the league had done itself no favors in promoting the Divy 3 finals.

On a side note, congratulations are in order for retiring player coach Brendan Allen (SMU) from the Dandenong football club. A very competitive, strategic and fair player (unlike some other player coaches in divy 3) and a coach that went out on his own terms and helped remove a lot of the riff raff at the club.
I’m sure I’m not the only one in wishing him all the best for the future.

Just to clarify, we had more then a few out. 9 senior players in total, including both ruckmen, onballers, half backs and our center half forward. Having said that the guys that were in the side didn't do much to secure their spots for finals (and im one of them).

Credit has to go to Doveton though, they have done really well considering what they were facing at the start of the year. The game was played in really good spirits.
Should be a great game next week and I think Doveton will get over the line in a tight one.
