Glenorchy got over Claremont by about 3 goals in the 3qtrs the Claremont senior side played. I’d say that’s a positive for the Mont boys heading in to the season

Glenorchy probably kicked 4/5 goals to 0 in the last qtr against a young Claremont reserve side consisting of a few colts boys

Claremont will improve greatly. The two Howletts are very good players from Clarence.

I think this is ultra concerning for Glenorchy. Will they get within 12 goals of a team all year? Poor kids.

Hobart have today announced their coach for this season.

They probably won't, just hopefully Glenorchy can build upon something for the future like Claremont have been building since they had their mass exodus. The start is getting the team on the park each week, then just working towards the rebuild.

So with Hux official now what do they have left?
From what I can work out;

Gridley - Lauderdale
Monks - Brighton or TSL
Phillips - Claremont
Daniels - Sorell
Meadows- Brighton
Joseph- unsure
Gilmour - out
Kreune - Clarence
Quinn- Uni
Smith - Sorell
Moore - Richmond
Johnstone - Campania
Andrews- Clarence / Uni
Pulford - mainland

What is legitimately left there?

They already couldn’t make the finals….

Agree its been an issue as even with those guys they were off the mark for finals last year

I genuinely can’t see how it happens from here.
I’m sure there are more than that gone too.

There’s possibly another 16 more gone.

Hobart has sent out a call for past players and all to come back to the club to help them field a side in 2023. So seems things are definitely not good for them currently.

I’ve heard of a very strong rumour that the Hobart Masters guys set up and ran a Bunnings sausage sizzle and HFC President Munting basically took all those raised funds from them. Yes the masters still fall under the banner of HFC, but you would think if they are looking at getting some Masters guys as top up players, taking the money that they have raised wouldn’t be a good starting point??

Yeah that wouldn't be good, would make them less likely to want to help out there.

The passive aggressive posts from Hobart aren’t helping. Continually stating things such as “calling contracted players” will not help the situation.
Did Hobart make the contracted Richmond players go back?
I understand the president is a lawyer but I’ll give you some ‘footy law’ advice. Play the hardline with the players that have left and not only will your position be untenable but your club will be gone forever.
The cold hard truth is Hobart don’t field any youth teams so to exist you literally rely on taking players from other clubs.

It could be argued Hobart hinder clubs that do put in juniors by stealing players straight out of 18s and then paying them money to walk into a senior team. They have done this for years now so don’t expect a North Hobart, Clarence or Lauderdale to send players back there.

Well said 👏

I’ve heard some pretty ordinary stuff coming out of there today.

Rat obviously has his detractors but I think the issue might be a lot deeper.
How many other clubs would be in this position if their coach left… not many

They are scrambling hard. It would be a terrible position to be in with the very real possibility of losing your club.

At this late stage, how do you play it? if they just let players go without fighting to keep them, they are screwed.
