Spangher wants a trade ...

if they grab him as an uncontracted player, we get a minimum of a 3rd round pick compo from the afl
Ah that's interesting, I wasn't aware of that.

Would I be right in assuming that Gold Coast have until the end of trade week to sign up uncontracted players?

You probably didn't intend for there to be any malice in this, but still, pretty shit thing to say about a bloke who has given 110% whenever he has played for our club.
I'm not sure about the no malice bit. We probably have the worst board on big footy in terms of player support. Sure there are a few that won't make it and have been given lots of chances but some of these players have had it tough and have really put in. Nikoski is one but has had injuries and is not a good decision maker despite being a senior player. I think Spanghers last few games showed he could be a good player but was not given the chances several other players had even tho' they didn't really do well either. At one time you struggled to see a player perform for another club if they were traded by West Coast but the likes of Staker and Morton have done just that. I reckon some of the others some posters are screaming out for to be delisted will have the same success elsewhere whereas we will lose what little experience we have in the team.

Spangher has a massive adams apple.

Hopefully a late second rounder?

Young, KP, had a few years development, isn't a spud but isn't great.

Pity we couldn't pump more than 3 games into him at the end of the year, was getting better with every game. Trade value won't be as high as it should be unless we can get a club to realise the potential the man has. Really enjoyed watching him at the end of the season.

Up until the last month I would have been happy with this news ... but can't help but feel a but saddened now, showed a bit of promise lately. Hope we get a pick upgrade and use the opening to upgrade a rookie

Gees he looked good at the end of the year.

I would never get rid of
LYNCH

ARE YOU GUYS CRAZY.
This is has been his first bad season.

Probrably pissed off with missing out on the record.

The Eagles board sometimes is a disgrace with the player bashing.

He has been a favorite player and played great for many years.

I would be suprised if we managed to get a 3rd rounder for him, and I wouldnt be suprised if he went in the PSD because clubs didnt want to bargin with us.

In saying that, we will likely do the right thing by him and cave in a negotiation so he gets the trade he has asked for. He did the right thing by us last year and stuck around when he could of gone in the PSD to a Vic club. I see no reason for malice on our side.

Hard to hide the obvious but Spang wanted out last year and all other clubs knew that.

The club has done what is best for WCE and Spang has had his audition at the right time.

He could be great for another club...........but make no mistake, he was never going to stay in WA in 2011.

Meh, don't be fooled. Most players do this. Spangher did the exact same last season.

He is expected to attract the attention of sides keen to bolster their key backmen ranks.

No shit?

sometimes think we throw the baby out with the bathwater..
have a feeling rosa+spangher will perform well at another club with different coaching(esp.skills)
our 'coaching in a wheelybin' society has had plenty of time to see their mistakes, reflect, and act upon them re players list+trades (and coaches)..lets hope they get it right this time...or...or...

Let's get things straight around here, for any other clubs interested in Spangher, Rosa, Mckinley and Lynch. These guys are all undoubtedly future Brownlow medalists, unfortunately because of the skills coach and head coach John Worsfold they haven't been allowed to reach their potential. I'm sure under the right direction they will all reach their potential, if given the opportunity. We will settle begrudgingly for first round picks for each player.

Was being chased by us during trade week last year, as we needed to bolster our defence - I think it was for a 2nd round pick?

Anyway ... it didn't work out for some reason and he chose to re-sign for another season.

Okay, good news :thumbsu:

Now, time for mckinley and hansen to get traded or delisted

Nope no malice... he might be a great bloke... but I thought Kasey Green gave his all whenever he played... doesn't mean he cut it as an AFL footy player.

Spangher is either extremely uncoordinated or a few screws loose. Whilst he has improved slightly, he still has a knack of taking on players he cant get around, tackling (or not holding tackles at all) poorly/pushing in the back, missing spoiling attempts etc etc.

I hope for his sake it is mental. Because he hasn't been able to get it together in his time at WC - and if he is just plain unco, then he won't have much hope of doing well at other clubs either.

Personally i like him more up the field where he can use his run - the problem is, he is never gonna get a wing or midfield gig ahead of our young blokes who were actually recruited into those positions.

He has been the source of much frustration, as has Wilkes, as far as defenders go. Hence "Good Riddance".

And somebody else mentioned something about people like me bagging our players (cbf quoting)... I suggest they look back through my posts and it has been consistent - Don't like Wilkes, Spangher (because, they have made critical mistakes over and over and not seemed to learn from them); Don't mind Priddis at all - BUT there is no room for him in midfield if we have other slow players around him (ie - who do we want there - him/McGinnity/Ebert/A Selwood ?); always been a huge fan of Scooter despite probably 95% of people here hating him (though i note their silence now after probably best performing youngster this year).

Anyway im getting off track. Spangher hasn't shown enough to warrant a spot on our list and is even pretty poor back-up as a tall defender. He had a good game on the weekend... mind you Staker and Sampi played a few good games too in their time at WC.
