Despite what I've said in the past, I really do respect and admire the St.Kilda fans for keeping their club alive. I have no doubt that the Saints fans are what keeps the St.Kilda franchise alive. The Saints have had very limited success over 100 years (along with The Bulldogs) but somehow even after all the diasters and terrible seasons like 2000 which have befallen the Saints, somehow their supporters have always loved their club which is something I admire. I have said things in the past which i deeply regret (esp. towards Trevor Barker) but it's pulling through the bad times which keeps the fabric of clubs stuck together. For unity's sake, i hope the fans of St.Kilda let the new board do their job properly and without distractions so that they can find the right coach for the job. Hopefully the Saints can draft shrewdly this November so they can build upon a solid foundation for the future. Give the Saints two or three years with the right coach (I still say Malcolm Bligh) and who knows, the Saints may play off in A Grand Final in 2004 or sooner. Keep the Faith Sainters.
PS this is not a suck-up post. I mean this with all sincerity and I do wish St.Kilda well as i think their supporters have been through enough crap to last a lifetime.

There was a time when Melbourne and Hawthorn were going to merge but their fans stuck by them and now look whats happened? Melbourne made the GF and Hawthorn made the final 8. It shows how important supporters really are.

Geelong4Eva,

Sorry for being a little cynical but I read through your message about 4 times to make sure you were being genuine.

I know I got a little pissed off when you had a go at Trevor Barker.

Anyway, thanks for your words and I hope you are right.

By the way, I have the feeling you are fully aware that since the appointment of Rod Butterss and Michael Gudinski as President/Vice-President last week, a group of businessman including Lindsay Fox's son are leading a push to cause a spill of board members at an extraordinary meeting.

The sad thing is, these dickheads have chosen the worst possible time for this to happen with the appointment of a coach around the corner and we are in the process of trying to lure players to the club.

The newly unified board has my support, and as the St Kilda Fan Forum shows, all our fans support too.

While looking for something on the Sydney Olympics, I came across this.

G4e maybe wasn't the complete idiot after all.:)

I respect the Saints at present.

I am happy that a team from the bottom of the ladder is giving it a huge shake.

I am happy to see a founding club which has had finance problems get back on track.

I ****ing can't stand some of their supporters on here at present as they are talking it up so hard. Well done on your streak, but if any club should be winning modestly after a poor record it's you.

Don't really have to be that smart to know that back in 2000 St Kilda would spend another 4 years at the bottom and get another 8 top draft picks and become decent. What a sad system.

Of course, but look at the bright side. It has saved you from having to find something else to cry and whinge over.

I have Essendon now. :D

There are a couple of teams in the west that seem rather friendless at present.
Being closer to home, one of those might appeal.

Why on Earth would they do that? What are they saying are the problems with the way the club is being run at the moment?

Was this posted pre 2004??

Im guessing so. But yeah your right stklida IS a great club for that reason to now have 30,000 members from a club as bad as any on the field is great. The ultimate triumph would be to win 3 or 4 premierships in the next 8-10 years to make this club really great.

You'll find some numbers at the bottom left corner of each post. They are the date posted.;)

In certain aspects the St Kilda Footy Club has been an absolute disgrace over the past 35 years. None of these aspects are social. On this level, they've been lovely to know. Hasn't bred success though.

One aspect in which they haven't distinguished themselves is the area of modesty when their team is winning. As with Melbourne, some uninformed supporters think it would be a good thing for the underdog St Kilda team to win a flag.

I have one thing to say to you. Before you endorse the idea of either of these team's supporters getting skiting rights - think Collingwood in 1991, and multiply by a factor of four.

Melbourne supporters' superior attitude was insufferable when they won 5 premierships in the 50s and 60s. As for St Kilda, the feral atmosphere they developed at Moorabbin was born out of that one premiership, on which they've dined out for forty years.

Unlike the realists from Collingwood, who knew their team had fluked a premiership in a mediocre season, both Melbourne and St Kilda supporters will be insufferably arrogant for up to five years.

Hands up those who've been around for a Melbourne or St Kilda premiership.

We are are a very, very poor team to judge the Saints against BUT they are a wonderful team to watch.

They play with strength, speed, style, skill, aggression and a wonderful team ethic. Magic stuff.

Even though they absolutely 150% pumped my team today, it was a pleasure to see them go about their business.

St. Kilda looking the goods.

The Afl needs (fans in general) a club like St. Kilda to win the flag.

Would be fantastic for football.(when Richmond win the flag again the world will stop)Keep the faith Tiges.

Hope they beat Essendon too hehe:D:D

You are a Football lover! Good on you, anyone who thinks St Kilda arn't playing entertaining footy needs a head check. They, like Brisbane are a pleasue to watch, isn't that why we watch the sport. Yea I'm biased, but they are good to watch.
