Stack or Hill...only room for one

Take Hill in an instance if he was on offer and WC had something worthwhile to offer as a trade to the Bullies.

He could star at Subi (Stack would also find Subi to his liking).

Agree however that you can only fit one in and that should be Hill.

hmm pick 30-35, definitely worth a early 3rd rounder but a high 2nd rounder and you are paying at a premium IMO but then again Brock Mclean went at pick 11 when he is more like pick 20-25.

really not to sure about his market value, he kicked 30 goals last year and was taken at draft pick 55.

stack probably pick 50-60 rofl.

Hill. Under sufferance. Stack has not got it. Hill remains in the side only due to injuries to Murph and Johnno...and Aker's indiscretion(s).

Similarly, I am an Everitt fan, but now that Jarrad Grant has taken his opportunity and looking good, I am not quite sure we can have both of those two in the team. Hargrave and Murph are similar in their roles, so when they return, I cannot see a spot for both of them either.

Please explain?

They all have something in common don't they. They are all tallish, but are not exactly threatening in a physical perspective (although I do think Shaggy's physicality is underrated). I guess what I am alluding to, is I doubt we can have all these skinnies running around. I'd love to see Murph, Grant, Shaggy and Everitt all in the team, but where do you play them? IMHO Everitt and Grant have to play forward, Murphy can play either end, (preferably forward), whilst Shaggy is fine across HB. I couldn't see a backline including Shaggy and one of the other three, similarly, I can't see a forward line with more than 2 of those 3. Any clearer? Or have I muddied the waters even more?..

For these reasons, with Grant showing some form, I also doubt if Liam Jones can be squeezed in, although he looks the most likely of the other 2 younger guys to be able to bulk up and become a tad more imposing than Everitt and Grant.

Got it, I don't agree with it though. I think your right in saying Everitt, Murphy and Grant can't all play in the forward line, but I can't see why we can't have Murphy or Everitt in the backline. Hargrave's physicality as you say is underated.

Perhaps we should stay on topic.

We kinda sorta are on topic...:D

IF you play Everitt or Murphy down back...who do you dump from the back 6. Regardless of our results, I think our back 6 is the easiest to select, and most solid part of our team.

Stack or Hill ??

For mine Hill

I agree with some others Stacks disposal except for his goal was pretty ordinary. And when he was screaming down forward for his goal the commentator did mention he was ignoring options.

Hill is an excellent foil for Barry Hall, because in my opinion due to his verticle leap and marking ability his opponents are uncomfortable zoning off him to double team Barry.

I'm not that fussed about Murphy down back, his only defensive talent seems to be as a loose man in defence, as soon as he is required to man up an opponent in the back half it often goes pear shaped.

Our back 6 in the last 2 weeks hasn't looked that solid, they seem to struggle against small forwards with reasonable overhead skills these days (I suppose thats karma for us being rich in that feild with Johnno and Smith in recent years)

And I still have a big query about Addison being used to plug holes back there, again he failed to lay a tackle for the match and thats concerning considering how much of the ball was in the Collingwood half forward/forward area where he was defending.

Hill

Hill is close to AFL standard. Doesn't go in real hard but can take that mark near goal and kick you a few. That's good enough.

Stack is just a dud. He is a tease.

We could move Gilbee to the midfield if Murphy or Everitt plays back, but Murphy should play forward IMO. Otherwise we could play Lake up forward or drop Williams, but all this depends on match-ups.

wouldn't suprise me if Stack has the better career, but Hill is the better option at the moment, should be played as our cherry picker and always looks dangerous when we pump the ball in deep to him quickly.

however if the finals are going to be games like last season where 10 goals win then he will be useless again.

I'd go with Hill- he seems to be able to contribute a bit more than Stack at this stage.

Plus Hill gives us that other target in the air while also being a clever player at ground level. Unfortunately for Stack he is just not up to it at the moment, needs a spell at Willi.

Hill, by a mile.

Why are people still talking about dropping Williams? It's never going to happen. And Gilbee has been trialed as a mid and sucked at it.

Hill gets the nod for mine. Neither offer any defensvie pressure, but Hill consistantly kicks goals and thats something we need at the moment.

Stack can do some wonderful things, however he is an extremly slow decision maker, doesnt know what to do when he gathers with his back to goal. Also he is reluctant to put his body on the line to the point where he has physically pulled up to avoid contact a couple of times now, which was quite embarrassing.

Looks like both Stack and Hill will both likely get a run against Brisbane this week.

So perhaps we should expand this conversation to 2-3 of Stack, Eagleton, Hahn, Hill or Akermanis
