the sweet success of a 4 month slow burning troll. You either have a great memory or #obsession haha
Not intended that way. Just thought you would be wrong when you said it and given our off-field change would be looking for on-field stability.

New coach could mean new philosophy and new players. Building a stadium would be wanting to not create any unnecessary spending on players.

Unless we are relegation threatened I think they'll keep him. Unlike AVB he's shown to operate on a small budget so if he misses top 4 but isn't costing the club money in the window they'll stick with him.

Ha ha, so Spurs didn't really want to move to the Olympic Stadium, it was all a big ploy.

Presume the private investigators, the whinging after the decision and the calls for a judicial review were all part of the ploy too.

With your tight Arse owners no chance.

In all seriousness you have a great ground (Anfield is special too) but this ground will trump them both. You may have 14k more, but then you have concrete bowls that still hold 90,000 or so which are complete shitholes. Plus we have a rock climbing club
Obviously brand new stadiums will be amazing and modern.

But I dont want one. 126 years of history at Anfield. It's nice that the same blades of grass that Liddell and Dalglish and Gerrard etc plied their trade is the same you will see Coutinho and Can run out on today.

The Kop is special, Anfield is special. But im a romantic, I love old grounds with history, true football cathedrals. Obviously a brand spanker stadium is gonna be great for Spurs but I'm really happy we decided to expand and modernise Anfield rather than build a new stadium.

And the request to play at Upton Park for this season was also clearly a ploy. Amusingly West Ham would rather demolish Upton Park than lease it to Spurs for a season :) :) :)

I must be the only one who does not care. Seems like just a point scoring exercise that's frequent on the site.

What's down is done. One year at Wembley then a brand new stadium that keeps up with the best in Europe.

Think of the new Anfield like the MCG. Today's MCG is a completely modern stadium and bears little resemblance to the MCG of the late 80's before the Great Southern Stand was developed (you probably don't remember / never went to an MCG footy match in the late 80's)

It would have been much easier to build a completely new stadium but Anfield is one of the great football arenas and retaining it is something special. And as I said by the time it's finished it will virtually be a new stadium, with the centenary stand being the oldest stand at 20 years old.

West Ham supporters who went to the Europa game were talking about how great the stadium is but also disappointed at the atmosphere compared to Upton Park. Home is where the heart is, etc.

Yep. Look at those recent European nights against your lot and BVB in the Europa League. It just wouldnt be the same if it was at some new shiny ground. But at Anfield, it's just different.

OT is the same, as much as I hate it, it's on the list of true football cathedrals across Europe. It's on the list for me to visit. Hopefully watch Liverpool do your lot while im there. :p

I've sat in the old 'G stands.

Have sat near that old scoreboard. However I was saying I must be the only one who doesn't care for this pissing contest about what our intentions were. To get a better deal, to move to Upton, to move to OS. I actually don't care.

Also not fussed with the whole keeps it's history v soulless concrete jungle argument. Let's just make new history in a new stadium instead.

I dont know it's just weird. Liverpool play at Anfield. We always have since the club was formed. It's a special ground. I know you can just say lets make new history at a new ground. But Anfield is woven into the fabric of the club. Could you not have redeveloped WHL like we have Anfield? Was it impossible?

Grounds that people go on about as being cathedrals or special generally arent.

I've been to Anfield a number of times, been to Old Trafford a number of times. Neither are that special. Both are at the lower end of grounds that I would consider good football grounds. Both have shitty atmospheres more often than not.

Don't really see much difference between an old stadium rebuilt stand by stand or a new stadium to be honest. Both Spurs and Liverpool are in the same place so pre match pubs/routines etc arent effected too much.

Problem in England is finding a suitable site near the teams main fanbase. West Ham and Man city were lucky they got to take over stadiums that were built for the commonwealth and olympic games. Spurs will probably have to spend all next season at Wembley or MK dons stadium while their stadium is built.

We are. Locked in for CL games this season and all home games next season at Wembley. Apparently club preferred MK due to cost but fan backlash over travel distance saw them agree a deal with the FA for Wembley.

This is often said by people who support clubs who have new stadiums.

Everyone always remembers the 'old days'

Give me Kardinia Park with a bunch of standing room any day over the new stands. My fond memories cloud my judgement as of course the new stands bring much higher levels if amenities.

Whereas I say get rid of the remnants of the 1970's and give me funding for Stage 5 already. History pffft! The team creates history not the stadium. Need to move into the 21st century at some point.

For both my clubs that's happening before my eyes.

Of course. The benefits outweigh clouded judgement of my childhood.

I am glad I got to see WHL before it is demolished.

More tantalising is the prospect of my club have the infrastructure envious to many.

Do people actually realise that spurs new stadium is closer to white hart lane than the old one?

The Olympic stadium was a free pass for levy. We get it and then our council bends over to our demands or we get a free stadium. We don't get it and the council see that club doesn't mind moving. I personally was against going out east. But wouldn't have cared if we moved further north towards Enfield and out of Harringey
