State of Origin State of Origin XVI – Round One – Allies Vs. Vic Metro @ University of Tasmania Stadium

Allies host Vic Metro in both teams first game of this version of the State of Origin. Vic. Metro pulled off one of the biggest upsets in recent memory last year when they beat South Australia in the Grand Final. It has also been the last good thing to happen for them for the last twelve months. So they’ll be looking to rouse the moral of the city by going back to back. Meanwhile, the Allies who are a bunch of misfits, leftovers and last-picked certainly played like that last season, only collecting the one win.

Amusingly, it was Vic Metro’s one loss in the final round that was the Allies only win in Version XV. The Kennedy Parker led Allies will be looking to repeat that performance and start the year with a solid win. Meanwhile, NaturalDisaster again takes the reigns of a Vic Metro line up looking to win it all again.

Metro is full of big-game players, including last seasons’ MVP Tony Lynn 15 , potential Royal’s B&F winner Marlowe and perennial Mobbs place getter DemonJim. Meanwhile, it’s going to be a highlight to watch Ant Bear , BRAB and Grand Uncle Horace all play together on the same team.


Allies to win their one and only game of the tournament by downing Vic. Metro by 60 points
