Hawthorn are playing West Coast, they could be hit for 6 again, what's their record for 3 conseutive losses total margin?

When was the last time Hawthorn lost 9 straight matches? Its a very real possiblity.

268 points, R2-4 1994

15 occurrences, last in R17 2004

Happened twice previously - 1983 R19-20 and 1977 R1-2.

Gnyang.....any wonder Geelong copped the brunt of some angry Hawk revenge in games immediately following these two events, which each happened when the Hawks were a real power, indeed in '77 maybe after a bit of a Premiership hangover.

In 1983, Round 21 the Hawks smashed Melbourne by 117 points, 172-57, then towelled Geelong in what became a bit of a last round specialty against the Cats, as they repeated that in Rd 22, 1984 too. But '83 the Hawks killed Geelong at Kardinia Park 157-77, so ended the year with successive 80+ point wins to atone for their lapses of Rd 19 and 20.

In '77, again Kardinia Park held no fears for the Hawks as they got their defensive powers back to win 105-50 to fire up after their 0-2 start to that season.

Hence, Easter Monday was nice to see Geelong inflict a bit of well deserved revenge against this modern powerhouse.

Interestingly Ron, the Hawks were making huge strides over their last 45 years of dominance to get to a point where they were just on the cusp of breaking even on the wins/losses front overall in their existence. They got to 947 wins, 971 losses with 10 draws as of Rd 23 last season, the two finals losses and the opening four defeats this year making that gap 30 games now. Will an extended phase of rebuilding mean the Hawks may need to wait a few more seasons to finally join the 50% or better club?

In a little like a mirror image, the Tigers were hurtling towards being under 50%, but those three winning seasons of 40-26 in '13-15 enabled them to get a bit of breathing space, the Tigers now a comfortable 36 wins to the good of 'par' with 1112 wins and 1076 defeats in their history.

Happened twice previously - 1983 R19-20 and 1977 R1-2.

Only 16 cases in all, involving 8 clubs, last being Melbourne R5-6 2003.

Quite incredible with the two previous times involving Hawthorn.

In 1977, they were reigning premiers and lost the first two games of the season with 10 goal quarters kicked against them.

In 1983, Hawthorn was on top of the ladder after Round 18 before losing the next two games and conceding 10 goal quarters in both. Of course, they went on to win the premiership several weeks later.

The 1983 Hawthorn team seemed to like being involved with 10 goal quarters - they kicked 10 themselves against Melbourne in Round 10, against Richmond in Round 17 and against Melbourne again in Round 21 (straight after the two games conceding 10 goal quarters).

Prior to Essendon winning on Tuesday, Fremantle were sitting inside the Eight with a percentage of 78.4. Has a team ever been inside the top 4/5/6/8 at the end of a completed round with a lower percentage?

The Derby tonight got me thinking, what is the win-loss % for WCE, FRE, ADE, PA when they are the nominal home team in derbies as opposed to overall record. Wondering if the nominal home teams have got any advantage now they have a reasonable sample size and have a higher percentage of crowd support.

Sydney are currently on the bottom of the ladder with a percentage of 76.6, yet there are four teams above them with an inferior percentage. Has any team sitting on the bottom ever experienced this before, or perhaps had five teams above them with inferior percentages?

I have found a few instances. After round 3, 2002 Western Bulldogs were on the bottom with a percentage of 80.9, superior to that of four teams above them, whilst after round 10, 2003 they were on the bottom again, with their percentage of 83.8 being superior to that of another four teams.
After round 4, 1992, Essendon were on the bottom with a percentage of 88.1, superior to five other teams, but this was under the convoluted Match Ratio system. I have a feeling my question probably has more instances than I first imagined.
