I've only found R2 2015 for Kennedy.

5 in a half is more common, but 5 in a quarter seems quite rare.
The AFL Season Guide lists those with 7 or more in a quarter. I can't find anything more online:-

8 goals:
Harry Davie (Melbourne): Q4 v Carlton R14 1925
Gordon Coventry (Collingwood): Q1 v Hawthorn R13 1929
Bob Pratt (South Melbourne): Q4 v Essendon R3 1934
Bob Pratt (South Melbourne): Q3 v Carlton R13 1934
Kelvin Templeton (Footscray): Q4 v St Kilda R13 1978

7 goals:
Harold Robertson (South Melbourne): Q4 vs St Kilda R12 1919 (this is the game mentioned in a couple of posts near the bottom of the previous page)
Bob Pratt (South Melbourne): Q4 v Footscray R15 1934
Jim Baird (Carlton): Q4 v Fitzroy R15 1942
Fred Fanning (Melbourne): Q2 v St Kilda R19 1947 (the game where he kicked 18)
John Coleman (Essendon): Q4 v St Kilda R18 1950
Doug Wade (North Melbourne): Q4 v Collingwood R21 1974
Jason Dunstall (Hawthorn): Q4 v Geelong R1 1990
Peter Sumich (West Coast): Q3 v Footscray R13 1991
Scott Lucas (Essendon): Q4 v West Coast R22 2007

Does anybody have a list of players who have kicked 5+ goals in a quarter?

I know Buddy has done it a couple of times, Moorcroft did it when he took mark of the year, Petrie...

Being a Bulldogs supporter, I have been interested in researching this stat for my club. This is what I have found so far.

Interesting stuff.

Seems to have become rarer this century as scoring has been spread around more.

Do any of the current coaches have a better record away from home than Adam Simpson? Also is it possible to see where he ranks all time?

I know this may be difficult considering Melbourne teams playing at their home ground are away teams, but I wouldn't consider them as playing away.

When was the last time seventh team on the ladder had the highest percentage, as with Port Adelaide currently?
2015 Round 4 - Hawthorn 141.4% - looks to be the answer.

The highest % I have for a seventh placed team is 164.7 for St Kilda, 2012 Rd. 2. This was only the fifth best percentage, however.

When was the last time seventh team on the ladder had the highest percentage, as with Port Adelaide currently?
West Coast occupied seventh spot on the ladder with the best percentage (132.88) after 1996 Round 11. Collingwood did likewise 1972 Round 10 with 132.33 - with just a Final 5 at the time and a 12 team competition that really was an odd case!

Along with Hawthorn (2015) and Port Adelaide (2017) that appears to make it 4 times in total this has occurred.

So has any team ever held the highest percentage from a position lower than seventh?

That's an average of better than 7 goals a game.....Only Ablett (1993: 124 from 17 @ 7.4 ave) & Lockett (1991: 127 from 17 @ 7.5 ave) have since bettered that.

Except against Richmond - only 4, 3 and 2 goals against them. Whoever their full back was must've been pretty good.

I'd say the whole team had a vendetta against the Swans, after losing to them in the Grand Final the year prior.....Probably something to do with it.

According to the Footy Record, it was Mike Sheahan.;)

In 1935 Pratt kicked 6 against the Pies in the 2nd Semi, only to miss the Grand Final against the same mob, after being hit by a tram....The Swans lost without him....Wonder if the Tram Driver was a Pies Man?

He actually got off a tram and was hit by a truck carrying a load of bricks. The truck driver was a South Melbourne fan. He was so distraught at what had happened that he went around to Pratt's house that night and gave him a packet of cigarettes as an apology!!!

Cost his own team the flag....He's lucky his fellow supporters didn't lynch him then.....Cheers for that clarification though.:thumbsu:

From the book Grand Finals Volume I (1934):- "Richmond's team had one of the most famous full-back lines of all-time. Kevin O'Neill, Maurie Sheahan and Martin Bolger played in that formation for 90 games from 1930 to '36. Between the three of them they had a winning mix of steadiness and adventure. When playing South Melbourne, they worked as a unit to bump and fluster Pratt off his game."

The Eagles tonight won even though they only scored 1 goal in the second half. How often has a team won kicking 1 goal in a half?

Quite often in the beginning of the comp....The combination of poor playing surfaces & a heavy, water-logged ball, having much to do with that.

Does this stat exist, and if so does anybody have anything for it: targets inside 50, i.e. how many times a player is kicked to inside their forward 50 (like how NFL receivers have target statistics when the QB throws them the ball and catch statistics for when they actually follow through and make the catch). If it is, surely Josh Kennedy leads the league by a mile.
