Is there anyone here who's adept at being Ron The Bear's successor?
Ron was the Warnie of statistics, his database and stats mind is irreplaceable. But thanks to Paul's AFL tables and some other sites including 'Rogers Results', which has links to other sites within it too, there's still some hope for us stats junkies.

We need to find someone who can write a program, or has a piece of software that can download everything from AFL Tables, maybe a couple of times a year, and then can do queries of that database downloaded.

Tom Hawkins is three years younger than Mundy and has played 50 fewer games. If Mundy can give 400 games a push, I see no reason why Hawkins can't.
I know the end can come frighteningly fast in your mid 30s but Hawkins is still an elite goal kicker, handy F50 ruck, and good at ground level for a bloke his size. If one of those attributes drops off from age he'd still easily be best 22.

After the game yesterday Melbourne's win-loss record is now 4-0 while their opponent Port Adelaide is 0-4. Has there ever been a larger numerical symmetry after at the end of a game? In other words has there been a game where one team finished 5-0 while their opponent finished 0-5? Or anything greater?

I know the largest ever AFL betting line on record was the round nine clash between WCE and Fitzroy in 1991. The Eagles were 7-0 and Fitzroy were 0-7. The Eagles won by 99, covering the line by half a point.
WCE improved to 8-0 while Fitzroy worsened to 0-8.
I'm not sure if that is the record for largest symetrical difference of a team with a perfect winning record against a team with a perfect losing record, although it's worth a mention.

I recall that, the Lions were excoriated in the media for such a poor game, where they seemed to merely try to stop the Eagles scoring rather than compete in the game, and at that stage were 0-8 as mentioned and had a percentage of about 49.1
Because the following game, they came out and defeated Geelong with a big last quarter, and a score 101 points higher than the 3.8.26 they managed the previous week! They were 10 goals to 3 up at half time and played an inspired game. Malcolm Blight was livid after the game, saying it's just so typical of Geelong to do this. It could well have been this game's outcome which pricked the conscious of a then retired Gary Ablett Sr, as he announced the following week that he's make a comeback. From 5-4 on the ladder at that stage, Geelong answered with a big win over the Crows at home, then a rare win over the Hawks at Princes Park (ending a run of 10 outs at that stage against them)...the match Gary resumed in the ressies. Indeed that Hawks match also proved cathartic for the brown and gold too...they lost just one more game en route to the Flag after turning 6-5 mid-year.
For the Lions, their following game after the Geelong win was the infamous match against the Crows at Football Park where a series of four successive free kicks to Adelaide late in the game led to a Jameson goal which cruelly saw the Lions lose almost on the siren. The Lions that year despite many bad defeats did have the scalps of Preliminary final combatants Geelong and West Coast to their credit that year, their last round win over the Eagles delivering the spoon to the Bears after the Lions finally moved off the bottom of the ladder.
Recently I decided to ask Ron's sisters whether they knew anything about Ron's database. They are both BigFooty members and so I decided to PM both of them. I had discovered they were on BigFooty after I decided to look on the Richmond board to see whether a tribute thread had been started after Ron's untimely death, with Richmond of course being the team Ron supported. Today I received this response from one of the sisters:
Hi - I would love for someone to be able to continue what Ronnie did. All of his computer stuff is piled high in the rumpus room at mums house. We hope to start sorting it out over Easter/school holidays.
I don't know what it would look like, would it be an external hard drive? Or programs on the main drives?
My sister is in the US at the moment, she's due back next month.
I'll look in on this page more often and update you with where we're at.

If any of you are extremely computer savvy and would know how to properly manage Ron's database, it might be good for you to make contact with Barb. I am not sure whether Ron's database would be an external hard drive or a program in the main drive, as Barb has asked. If anybody knows the right computer-related questions to ask of Barb or Jess (the other sister) perhaps we can begin making progress with using and appreciating what Ron had constructed.

I've been checking some random chunks of years 1897 - present, and had come across a number of times where three teams had same score at end of quarter, but so far, only one other example of four with the same score, 1918 Round 13 - Fitzroy, Collingwood, Sth Melb and St Kilda all 2.2 at qtr time:
Will admit that my search has not been precise and well-ordered, but whilst five or more is not impossible, will be surprised if any are found.
