Sydney scored 10.0 before a point

I remember in 94 WC kicked 11.0 before a point v NM

What's the most goals before a point was scored?

or a good mid game streak?

also opposite for points if anyone knows?

On SM-S908E using BigFooty.com mobile app
I remember as a kid that Carlton kicked 13.0 in a game, pretty sure it was against Hawthorn in 1971.

They ended up with 18.9 from memory.

Have there been any players who in a senior career played for clubs at all four points of the compass (North, South, East, West)?

Do you mean specifically playing for teams that had North, South, East or West in the name of the club? For example, Ross Glendinning played for East Perth, North Melbourne and West Coast.

Robbie West played for West Perth, the West Coast Eagles and the Western Bulldogs, but didn't stick with the theme in the SANFL and played with Port Adelaide rather than West Adelaide or the Woodville West Torrens Eagles. He won the 1992 Sandover Medal playing for West Perth in the WAFL, and IIRC the runner up the same year was Heath East from East Perth.

Trent Nicholls moved around a fair bit in his career, and played with North Melbourne, the West Coast Eagles and also for WAFL team East Fremantle when listed by the Eagles.

The late NRL player Terry Hill played for South Sydney, Eastern Suburbs, Western Suburbs and Wests Tigers, but never a North team. He came close considering he departed Manly after 1999 with the Sea Eagles joining the Northern Eagles joint venture with North Sydney Bears and Central Coast Rugby League that only lasted two seasons (2000 and 2001), Hill playing for Wests Tigers from 2000-2004 and when he returned to the Sea Eagles in 2005 the team had reverted to Manly alone.

Alistair Clarkson made his playing debut for North Melbourne against Melbourne in Round 15 1987 and it was a memorable one, Clarkson kicking the winning goal for the Kangaroos against the Demons. His last senior game was in Round 22 1997 by which time he was a Melbourne player. And this was a memorable match for the Dees. Last by a long way, Melbourne played Fremantle at the MCG, and all the Dockers needed to do was win against the bottom team and 8th spot and a maiden finals spot was theirs. Yet it was the Demons full of life and the Dockers who appeared flat and disinterested, the Dees thrashing Freo by 40-points and looking more like a finals contender than a wooden spoon team.

With a career spanning 11 seasons, it is quite remarkable that Clarkson's final match should be for the team he made his debut against a decade earlier. Does anyone know of any other players like Alistair Clarkson whose final match was for a team against which they had made their debut?

In a similar vein WAFL player Mal Williams played for West Perth, East Perth and Perth (the only post WW2 player to appear for all three Perth clubs) and also played for Subiaco in the early 1990s.

John Todd coached South Fremantle, East Fremantle and the West Coast Eagles.

Jamie Duursma's AFL career was for all the 'capital city' clubs - the Sydney Swans, Brisbane Bears and Melbourne Demons. Its a pity the Adelaide Crows didn't give him a run in their first year in 1991.

Geelong - 15 goals straight against St.Kilda Round 5 1979. Worse still the week before my poor side got humbled against the Pies by 178 points.

I've been searching everywhere for a player who represented teams for all four compass points ever since the question was asked two weeks ago, but while I have found plenty of players who represented three I have to concede defeat with all four.
I couldn't find any examples of a player drafted by the West Coast Eagles from SANFL team North Adelaide, played for WAFL team East Perth when not selected by the Eagles then transferred to Queensland team Southport after his tenure with the Eagles ended. Or an Eastern Ranges player who missed being drafted, went to WAFL team South Fremantle where he was noticed by and drafted by North Melbourne, playing for them and then VFL affiliate North Ballarat, before playing for for SANFL team West Adelaide when delisted by the Kangaroos.

There didn't seem to be a player who represented East Fremantle, West Adelaide, Northern Bullants and South Launceston in his career, or one who played a combination of direction teams across Sydney, Canberra, Brisbane/Gold Coast, Tasmania and the Northern Territory in these state leagues. Pre WWI I couldn't find a WAFL player who represented West Perth, East Fremantle, South Fremantle and former team North Fremantle.

So the search for a four direction team player remains elusive.

There are some very large scores in the VFA during the 1980s, especially Division 2 against teams that were declining like Yarraville, teams that were down for a number of years like Sunshine, or new teams that didn't take off like Kilsyth; or Division 1 teams that found themselves out of their depth like Camberwell or Waverley. Not sure if there were any instances of the 212 and 317 you mentioned though.
A couple from the local leagues

971 - SA - Torrens Valley (436 and 535) vs. Callington - Hills FL Country Div. - 2009
947 - SA - Kersbrook (445 and 502) vs. Callington - Hills FL Country Div. - 2009
902 - NSW - Killarney Vale (403 and 499) vs. Wyong/The Lakes - Central Coast AFL - 1986
897 - SA - Victor Harbour (430 and 467) vs. Port Elliot - Great Southern FL - 1996
862 - NSW - Terrigal (401 and 461) vs. Wyong/The Lakes - Central Coast AFL - 1988
854 - SA - Torrens Valley (422 and 432) vs. Callington/United Eagles - Hills FL Country Div. - 2010
838 - SA - Strathalbyn (409 and 429) vs. Port Elliot - Great Southern FL - 1996
811 - SA - Meadows (385 and 426) vs. Callington/United Eagles - Hills FL Country Div. - 2010
810 - NSW - Killarney Vale (340 and 470) vs. Wyong/The Lakes - Central Coast AFL - 1988
809 - Vic - St. Mary's (395 and 414) vs. Moyston - Ararat DFA - 1998
806 - Vic - Tullamarine (384 and 422) vs. Brunswick City - Essendon DFL B Grade - 1986
798 - SA - Willunga (374 and 424) vs. Port Elliot - Great Southern FL - 1996
789 - Vic - Carngham-Linton (325 and 464) vs. Landsborough - Lexton Plains FL - 2001
779 - Tas - Forth (374 and 405) vs. Rosebery/Toorak - North West FA - 2021
775 - Tas - Swansea (342 and 433) vs. Cambridge - Tasman FA - 1999
773 - SA - Kersbrook (309 and 464) vs. Callington/United Eagles - Hills FL Country Div. - 2010
770 - Vic - Marysville (377 and 393) vs. South Belgrave 2nds - Yarra Valley Mountain DFL Div. 2 - 1973
766 - SA - Kersbrook (352 and 414) vs. Callington/United Eagles - Hills FL Country Div. - 2011
763 - Vic - Bears Lagoon-Serpentine (307 and 456) vs. Dunolly - Loddon Valley FL - 2003
759 - Vic - Albanvale (335 and 424) vs. North Sunshine - Western Region FL Div. 2 - 2010
758 - SA - Birdwood (338 and 420) vs. Callington/United Eagles - Hills FL Country Div. - 2011
753 - SA - Echunga (332 and 421) vs. Callington - Hills FL Country Div. - 2009

Some teams like Killarney Vale in 1986 played more than two games, only the two biggest scores in each case are considered.

A bizarre game. Melbourne went into quarter time up by a point. Richmond kicked 10 goals in the second quarter to take a 52 point halftime lead. Melbourne responded with 10 goals of their own to reduce the margin to 12 at the final break...and Richmond piled on another 12 to completely blow Melbourne away and come within three points of breaking the VFL scoring record.

Sounds like some serious wind could've played a part.

Thanks for the list. I would have sworn the game below made the list.

At half time I said to my mate this is the worst game I've ever watched. We were in a pub in Sydney and early in the 3rd quarter we got up and left and went to watch a band. Got A bit of a shock when I got home and saw the scores. If it was going to be a draw I would have picked 30-40 pts each, based on how bad it was. Still reckon its the worst game I have watched, well 2.x quarters that I watched were.

The last one on Swamp's list is another shocker Saints v Swans game at Docklands.

Is anybody able to produce a top-20 list as to which teams have kicked the most century scores against another particular team?

That second match was at the SCG wasn't it? I think it rained for a fair chunk of the night. Riewoldt took a match saving mark in defence pretty late.

You are right it was the SCG. My bad, I didnt go to the SCG to watch that game, I would have watched that on TV, but there is another game at Docklands the Swans played, before I movef back to SA in 2011 that was as bad as the first two I mentioned. I thought it was another game against St Kilda.

On King's Birthday, Simon Goodwin and Craig McRae met for the first time as Premiership coaches (Goodwin in 2021 and McRae in 2023).

They are two of eight current coaches who have won a Premiership.

Is that a record for the number of coaches in the same season who have previously won a Premiership?

I reckon it is the record. 8 of 18 coaches.

7 of 16 in 2007.

Conversely only 3 of 17 in 2011 (Malthouse, Clarkson & Worsfold).
