Re: Post your stats questions here

Collingwood and West Coast are the only two instances since Carlton in 1967. Incidentally, it was the year that "out on the full" was first penalised by a free kick.

1960's - 18 times
1950's - 15
1940's - 4
1930's - 3
1920's - 33
1910's - 55
1900's - 58
1890's - 20

Tks Ron....not surprised about before 1950's numbers, but very surprised that West Coast only team to achieve this in last 43 years.

Few teams have gone close with only 1 game, Saints, Essendon & Geelong.

When did the centre square come in ? As during 1970's & 1980's scoring became much easier.

Re: Post your stats questions here

Adding colour to those pages was a suggestion of mine. ie. colours for 1st, last and those in the top 4/5/6/8. Don't think I suggested pink though :p

Let's call it light mauve.

So my proposal is a secondary stat for all of these, but after a certain date.

I have done that in a couple of spots (possibly also at your request), but I can't say I'm a big fan of the idea. That idea would work if the content were dynamically generated, but it's too late in the day for me to get my head around that.

I started to write what was a going to be a downloadable program to do more custom thingies, but it petered out.

Re: Post your stats questions here

OK - here's one for all Doyens/Gurus of the Stats Board.

We all know that no two team members have scored 100 goals or more in the same season, and that the closest we've had to that was the Peter Hudson/Leigh Matthews duo in 1977 (Hudson with 110 and Matthews with 91).

What's the greatest number of teammates from the one season who have kicked more than X number of goals (in lumps of ten)

So, here's the kickoff for the list (most recent occurrence in brackets):

100 - 1 (Hawthorn 2008: Franklin 113)
90 - 2 (Hawthorn 1977: Hudson 110, Matthews 91)

Centre diamond 1973-74 (good years those, bring back the diamond!), square 1975.

Correction to the above: out on the full was introduced in 1969.

Wow ok, and I thought the Pies' 30 (from 32 players) this year was pretty impressive.

Wow ok, and I thought the Pies' 30 (from 32 players) this year was pretty impressive.

Top teams are generally more stable and use fewer players, hence most of the teams on that list were mediocre or worse.

Roger/Ron/anyone else who can answer this, what was the lowest amount of 100+ point wins in one season during the 1990's?

3, in 1990, 1994, 1998 & 1999.

What's the highest average winning margin since the war ?

Collingwood currently sit on 60.5 pts which must be pretty high.

Thanks Ron...

was thinking more about teams with at least 12-14 wins....

Interesting of those listed only Hawks in 91 won the GF. Collingwood of course still going.

Last night Port Adelaide scored 3.3, but the 3 behinds were rushed.

Disregarding rushed behinds, when were the last three times
a) a team kicked no behinds in a game?
b) a team had only two scoring shots in a half?
c) a team had only one scoring shot in a half?
d) a team had only three scoring shots in a game?

And the next challenge for the database kings is:

with Chris Tarrant in the news recently celebrating 250 games, how many players have returned to a club after playing for another? There will be some very well known names in this list, such as David Cloke, Bill Picken, Carl Ditterich twice, and even Warwick Capper, but how many altogether?

Thanks for all that effort Ron, though it doesn't seem to have taken you long to compile. I guess that's what databases can do for you.

84 players was much more than I was anticipating.
