In the 1954 grand final Footscray 15.12 (102) defeated Melbourne 7.9 (51). In round 13, 1977, Footscray 15.12 (102) defeated Melbourne 7.9 (51). Has any other two teams reproduced a score which they achieved in a finals match at a later date in a home and away match?
I get the feeling my question isn't worded in a grammatically correct manner but I feel sure somebody will be cluey enough to interpret it?

That game from 1982 is a remarkable parallel: Carlton bursts out of the blocks, comfortably extends its lead in the second quarter, allows its opponent more than half of its goals (7 of 12; cf 5 of 8) in the third quarter, then completely snuffs it out in the last (0.2 for Sydney, 1.0 for Melbourne).

1982 Carlton finished 3rd of 12 then won Grand Final. 2015 Bulldogs currently 4th of 18 ...

Most number of coaches in a season? (ie. including caretakers)
21 in 2013 and 2015.

20 winning coaches in 2011, 2013 & 2015.

One and maybe two new records with Matthew Egan taking over at Essendon.
22 coaches in 2015
21 winning coaches in 2015 (IF Essendon win one of their next 3 games)

Q: Which coach did not win a game in 2013? And in 2015?

I thought he had 1 year left on his contract, but I'm reading it was 2

To think we could have just stuck with Sheedy! LOL

I wanted Hardwick in 2008. I thought it was a no-brainer between him and Knights.

As of R1, 2016, Essendon will have had 4 coaches (Thompson, Hird, Egan, ???) across 24 H&A games.

Precedence?

North Melbourne technically had 6 in 22 games between R18 1939 - R1 1941: Keith Forbes, Ted Cusack, Len Thomas, Jim Adamson & Wally Carter (dual coaches), Bob McCaskill

North had another 5 in 24 games R18 1930 - R5 1932: Johnny Lewis, Norman Clark, Jack Pemberton, Charlie Cameron, Dick Taylor

Carlton 4 in 8! R22 1977 - R7 1978: Ian Thorogood, Ian Stewart, Sergio Silvagni, Alex Jesaulenko
Carlton 4 in 20 R18 1923 - R3 1925: Horrie Clover, Percy Parratt, Paddy O'Brien, Jim Caldwell
Geelong 4 in 16 R5 1940 - R1 1941: Reg Hickey, Les Laver, Allan Everett, Len Metherell
Hawthorn 4 in 24 R18 1931 - R5 1933: John Harris, Jim Jackson, Arthur Rademacher, Bill Twomey
Richmond 4 in 23 R18 1963 - R4 1965: Des Rowe, Dick Harris, Len Smith, Jack Titus
St.Kilda 4 in 23 SF 1918 - R7 1920: Jimmy Smith, Wels Eicke, George Sparrow, Charlie Ricketts
South Melbourne 4 in 20 R18 1928 - R1 1930: Charlie Pannam, Jim Caldwell, Fred Fleiter, Paddy Scanlan
South Melbourne 4 in 11 R13 1984 - R1 1985: Ricky Quade, Tony Franklin, Bob Hammond, John Northey
Footscray 4 in 20 R17 1925 - R1 1927: Con McCarthy, Jim Cassidy, Harry Saunders, Paddy Scanlan
Footscray 4 in 24 R18 1950 - R4 1952: Arthur Olliver, Charlie Sutton, George McLaren (filled in), Charlie Sutton, Wally Donald
Fitzroy 4 in 20 R18 1928 - R1 1930: Gordon Rattray, Jimmy Freake, Doug Ringrose, Colin Niven
Fitzroy 4 in 20 R18 1933 - R1 1935: Frank Maher, Jack Cashman, Len Wigraft, Percy Rowe
Fitzroy 4 in 24 R24 1994 - R1 1996: Robert Shaw, Bernie Quinlan, Alan McConnell, Michael Nunan

Two most recent entries Carlton 1977-78 & Fitzroy 1994-96... contrasting fortunes.

Question. Since the VFL went National in 1987 - how many teams have won finals in 5 successive years?

Melbourne (1987-1991) was the first team to do it in this period. Amazingly - 1991 is also the last time Melbourne fronted up in an "Odd" year and won a Final - this is despite playing in 7 Finals series since 1991.

The most recent team to join the club is Sydney Swans (2010-2014). Hawthorn (2011-2014) is poised to join the club this year.

I'm pretty sure Melbourne & Richmond are the two Victorian clubs not to have a streak of winning finals series (that didn't start in the VFL - pre 1990) since the VFL became the AFL. Richmond having not done it since the mid 1970s.

Another "quirk" about the 1987 Finals series. 3 teams won 2 finals each. I'm wondering if this is the only time this ever happened in history. (Certainly can't happen under the current system).

<snip>

Has been recently discovered that Cusack was coach in R17&18 1939
replacing Forbes (under suspension)
so it is 5 in 22 for period you mention

but certainly 6 in 24 R16 1939 - R1 1941: Forbes, Cusack, Thomas, Adamson, Carter, McCaskill

In 1982 Mark Jackson kicked 76 goals for Melbourne, but that wasn't enough to give him the honours of being the leading Melbourne goal scorer for the year. Gerard Healy kicked 77 goals to lead Melbourne.

My question is, what is the highest number of goals kicked by a player in a season who didn't win his club's goal kicking?

Noticed Jackson didn't get any Brownlow votes for that season. What is the most goals a player has kicked in a season yet not received a vote?

If you go onto Paul's site at

http://afltables.com/afl/stats/alltime/richmond.html

...and click on the second column (guernsey number), it'll group all the 27s together and you'll be able to spot the highest games/goals.

Judging by that it seems only three players for Richmond who has worn the number 27 to play 100 games. That seems strange though that only three Richmond players who has worn the number 27 has played 100 games.
