It seems to me that he is a natural footballer in as much as he sees the game unfold in front of him and he has always been a step ahead of the game. Even at his peak he would sometimes kick the ball to where he thought someone should have been rather than where they were. (Doesn't quite make sense but hopefully you know what I mean) Right now he looks like he knows what he should be doing, but his reaction time has slowed and that first step he always took before anyone else is now being taken at the same time everyone else does. This brings him right back to the pack. His output is OK but he is now performig at levels that you expect of B graders at best. Maybe he is carrying something. I don't think so. Next year will be worse. Hang then up Sidey. You've been great. Thanks for the memories

I agree, he looks cooked.

My post was intended to clarify that I don't think he has checked out, he's still trying hard; just can't do what he used to.
TBH I do not think he has looked like his old self since Beams came back for 1 reason or another, it would be great to have 2018 sidey out there but it looks done now.

The sheer self interest in Sidebottom's decision to ignore the opportunity to give a young debutant (Ginnivan) a chance to kick his first goal when he was in the perfect position to do so sums up Sidebottom's year. What a terrible example to set for a young kid who probably idolized him growing up. He looked straight at Ginnivan and thought "Feck you" before trying the hero's goal over his shoulder on the left foot. If he isn't fumbling or throwing the ball onto his boot in panic fashion he is miskicking and missing targets.
But that simple act of selfishness was infuriating. I hope it gets highlighted in front of the whole team this week.

You haven't got the minutes in the quarter that this happened, Domie? I'm not questioning your judgement, I had to step out a couple of times and I missed a few minutes of the game.

I thought he had assessed the situation and realised he probably wasn’t in the best spot with the players around the ball. Split second decision, potentially a 50:50 but I didn’t think it was as blatant as you make it out to be.

At the end of the day he is a senior player, a proven goal scorer and you want these players to take ownership.

I think he made the right choice from both perspectives.

Watch Ollie Wines have to change direction as Sidey pulls the handball and kicks around the corner, he had Ginnivan all lined up. Sidey saves a first gamer from a hospital ball and gets called selfish....

Yeah the Ginnivan ignore was terrible.

He actually looked at Ginnivan for a good second or so and ignored it.

We should have got rid of him end of last year. Was better in the guts last night but still average for a senior player.

Adams, Crisp and Grundy all stood up big time last night

Crisp yes, but Adams went missing in the 2nd half and in the 1st kept turning it over as per usual.
