Is he definitely out of contract at the end of the season, and if so, do we offer him what we offered Leon Davis?

Tongue-in-cheek I'd say we shouldn't be as generous.

On a serious note his on-field impact has been greatly reduced. The club needs to weigh up the benefit of retaining him as a mature leader (the way we kept Dunn) and use him in that capacity. The monetary value of that contribution compared to his previous salary needs to be carefully considered.

I think it is crunch time for him now unless it turns around for him in the next 6 or 7 wks it may come to an end much sooner I thought, his de as gone from being 1 of our best to where you worry when it,s in is hands.

I must say I fully expected him to reach 300 but it is a long shot now.

For some reason probably 50% of Pendlebury’s disposals go in Sidebottom’s direction. You hear the commentators bang on about the “old firm”, but really it’s just a comfort level and knowing where the other player is likely leading/spreading to. Most of the time now, I’m wishing he kicked it somewhere else because Sidebottom just wastes possessions or gets it to another player under just as much pressure.

He's not faraway but he is a fraction off, he get's caught far more often than he used to, disposal isn't as damaging as it once was, doesn't kick those timely goals when we need him to. He's not quick, never was and he is only going to slow down from here, its a game of fine margins, next season could be Sidey's last.

You honestly reckon he's not far away?

Just needs to become more damaging with his disposals & start bobbing up for a goal.

His numbers are close to his better years. It's not for lack of effort, the guy is still running hard but isn't impacting the contest the way he used to.

Which only proves and a damning reflection of how he plays - its now or never for me, either moving him on and we might get a 4th rounder or delist him and reduce cap space. If we are fair dinkium this is what we do!

I agree, he looks cooked.

My post was intended to clarify that I don't think he has checked out, he's still trying hard; just can't do what he used to.

It's got to the stage that in my house when he gets the ball we all shout at once "oh no!!!".

It's like anything could happen and none of it is likely to be good. He seems lost and confused when he used to be such a composed and clean player.

Every week you hope that he gets it back, but he just doesn't.

I am not sure it is a reflection of how he has always played but it is a fair summation of how he is now, I would give him to season,s end and if things do not change then yes like you I think we seriously have a hard decision coming up.
