Steele wants to be a Pie for Life

Great news!

Out of contract at the end of this season, Collingwood young gun Steele Sidebottom has confirmed on PieCast on Magpie Radio that he wants to remain in black and white stripes for the remainder of his career.

“I am going to be black and white for the remainder of my career,” stated the 19-year-old.

Not only because there were some rumblings about Essendon trying to get him, but he seems really committed to the club anyway which is great to see from any player.

Steele's too good of a kid to piss off 2 years after we have taken a punt with him and given him so many chances in the seniors.

I heard a few weeks ago that his contract is close to being signed, I guess those "rumours" were right on the money.

Could be our next Captain in 4-5 years IMO.

Even if you did not barrack for Collingwood as a kid and end up being drafted by them, you would be stupid to want to leave.
Only players that could not get a regular game would leave.
Why would a good player want to leave a club that rarely has a crowd below 50,000 at the game.

I have met Steele on a number of occassions as he is friends with my little brother. He is as genuine as yo can get. We will never have a problem signing him on extensions as long as we continue to treat him right
