Coniglio wants to win a premiership before he retires. Out of Hawks, Carlton & GWS he picked the most likely

Complete common sense.

Hawks supporters parade around as if they’re still making prelims and jagging the odd premiership, but the reality is they just finished the Home & Away season 9th, and have now finished out of the 8 in 2 of the past 3 seasons - they’re trending downward, or at best have plateaud into a mid-range team. Cogs would have needed more evidence they’re ready for a sustained push deep into the finals, and the fact is the last finals series they played in they got bundled out by a team that is now sitting 17th.

From a Carlton perspective it’s hardly surprising either. There is absolute no guarantee of finals in the near future, and the list is mostly potential and our coach has only coached half a season. There are far too many question marks still.

A little part of me fist pumped Cogs signing for life. Can’t understate the importance of keeping their very best players together to keep pushing into the finals, and his signing should have a direct impact on keeping others at the club. If they can keep Kelly, Whitfield, Taranto, Cameron, Ward, Greene and Davis together they’ll make a grand final eventually. Need to turf Leon as the first order of duty if they miss out again this year.

You’d be happy with Yeo, Darling, Kennedy etc conducting their contract negotiations in the same way as Cogs? Was like an Italian opera! I admire Tom Mitchell and JOM recently where they just came out and told all that contracts were signed and done with no fanfare. Best of luck to Cogs now Hawks and Blues can move onto their plan B. The club is always bigger than any individual.
Lol what? No, it wasn't. Coniglio seems to have been respectful throughout the process and the media even commented how quiet his camp was. Just because he chose GWS doesn't mean he was a drama queen lol stop being so sour.

You admire the two that just happened to sign for you and not the one that turned you down.

In what way was that?

The media leaches were the ones all over the place.

Cogs and his management were quiet and respectful as were the Giants, Hawks and Blues clubs.

Only acting like pork chops were the media and some fans.

So salty.

I never heard coniglio once say he met with anyone . Clarkson was the one name dropping.
I suppose that makes clarkson the drama queen hey !

Lol .... wishing a bloke the best of luck is sour! I am happy that Cigs did not choose the Hawks if he was demanding 7 years. No player is worth that.

No problem. Thanks for giving us a former #1 pick , who you thought was good enough to throw a big contract at for a 4th rounder in a year we didn't make the top 8. So banged up he played 21 games , and ignoring his ankle injury year, has played 21, 24 and 24 games in his last 3 seasons. Contributed this year, will contribute even more with a full pre-season next year. Getting Scully for what was effectively free certainly takes some of the sting out of missing out on a free hit at cogs. I hope Patton turns out to be as equally broken as Scully was supposed to be. Sadly I think he might be a knee reco too far, but who knows, broken players seem to have a habit of playing a lot of decent games for our club.
I actually thought you were joking until I got to three quarters of the way through your post. Surely you aren't serious.

Getting a fourth rounder in a week draft actually seems like a steal for Scully who was awful this year, and showed nothing to suggest he will be any different in 2020 or beyond. We got overs and the Hawks should have bargained harder for a 6th or 7th founder instead.

and we got his salary off the books

Next minute re-sign Kelly Cogs and A host of others.

AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

Said the other day - ITK's = ITIK's (I think I know)

So many cocky posters that have to delete their account now. Incred.
The only thing more pathetic than people coming to an Internet forum claiming to be ITK are the people who grovel and drool over every made up word they say.

My first preference, even before my own team, is for players (especially good ones) to remain loyal to the clubs that drafted them. Happy for GWS and Coniglio.

MOD NOTICE

No, it absolutely is not.

Play nice thanks otherwise you risk receiving infractions and/or bans.

If you’re unclear as to what is or isn’t acceptable, read the rules of this board and of BigFooty.

Interesting that it's ok for guys like Abassi to abuse all comers but not for people to point and laugh when he, again, is so very very wrong

Actually!
It's been a blast watching Hodge play top footy in a Brisbane jumper, Lewis getting carried off after retiring in a Melbourne jumper, Mitchell winning a final & retiring in a West Coast jumper & will be even more fun watching Burgoyne in a GC jumper & best of all, Buddy in a Swan's jumper.
All this just to bring in disgruntled 'talent' from other clubs, Mitchell, JOM, Scully & Wingard in order to stay relevant in finals.

Your club has piece by piece dismantled any of the culture built from it's success a few year back now.
One good reason why Coniglio may have chosen the growing culture of GWS over anything that the Hawks or Blues have to offer.
Tell you what a blast is over the last decade watching Hawks win 4 premierships live at the G. Even without Cogs Hawks midfield will be exceptional moving forward and Hawks will bounce back soon. As I said thankful for Buddy signing a Cogs like contract and pushing Tom to us 👍.

If Hawks culture has been dismantled maybe other clubs need to start dismantling their own.

It is not OK for anyone to abuse anyone.

If you see abuse, report it, and it will be dealt with.

If you abuse someone, you will be dealt with as per the rules of the board and the site in general.

End of story.

It's good to see posters working their Hawk envy & issues out in here.....It's a community service.

Congrats to the Giants in taking the necessary gamble, by going the extra yards in order to keep him.

Hope it doesn't come back to bite them on the bum, quite so much as the Buddy one has Sydney.

Such a terrible take. Buddy has been well worth it for Sydney.

It's as weak a take as saying 'Trading in Mitchell has been a bust because he can't get on the park'.
