Why are no players being dangled as part of the may trade.

Demons are chock full of mids, so why not throw up Christian Salem, Billy Stretch and a second rounder instead of trying to get the draft pick the Suns want.

Suns probably wouldn’t take that. And I wouldn’t want to trade Salem. Probably our best ball user. Losing Hogan for May Kolodjashnij and pick 23 (from freo) seems to be the current consensus. Suns will get pick 6.

Suns just need to wait a year and they get a high draft pick through free agency. They don’t want players; they are going ultra rebuild and need the picks. Unless it was someone really really good like Gawn or Oliver and that’s obviously not going to happen.

The suns will still need Experience to guide the young suns and protect them, otherwise can guarantee that the kids will be wanting out again as soon as their contract ends.

Salem is almost the last player we would trade. Best ball user on our list by a mile.

Fair enough, was just thinking of a name that might get the trade done.. Putting up Oscar amcDonald is hardly going to get them to change their minds from wanting a top 5 pick. Will need to give up something decent to get him and you are checkers with mids so could expend one without it hurting too much.

Swapping first round picks 2018 to 2019 not losing one.
Hombsch is a required player at Port but looking for 1st 22 opportunities.
But yeah I thought GC too harshly dealt

Sorry that doesn't make any sense. By definition if Jack was required you wouldn't be contemplating trading him
It's supply and demand - Port aren't fussed about keeping him therefore clubs won't be clamouring for him

Completely agree but I am not sure if they would see losing a top 5 pick worth it for whatever experience someone like Salem can provide. They have recruited some fringe players who have been around for years and they still have a few players who have been around for awhile so it’s not all bad.

What do people think about a deal structured around (give or take later draft pick swaps)
May AND Wingard to Hawthorn,
2 2018 first rd picks to Port,
Hombsch plus Hawks (Burton? Whitecross? Lovell?) plus 2019 first rd pick to GC

probably too bad a deal for GC.

I think the Hawks would want a bit more back for Whitecross than just May and Wingard

Not sure why the Suns will let him go given they will more than likely get pick 2 next year as compensation.

Mind you there trading over the last couple of years has been dreadfull

Could the Suns and May have renegotiated his contract in September to remove 2018 and ensure they got the free agency’s compensation?

Exhibit 1. Tom Langdon
Exhibit 2. Ryan Burton

The point being that "required" players can and will be considered / offered for trade if it results in a better overall outcome for the club.
